Do not confuse diplomacy with "making friends". Those two things are different. Paul would trade with Chavez because cutting off trade benefits not the people but the dictator. But that doesn't mean they'd be shooting pool and drinking brewskis together. Get your head out of your arse and recognize a tyrnat when they're right in front of you.

For the same reason many on this board feel the need to stand up for the regimes in Libya, Iran, North Korea, and even Nazi Germany.
