Action needed: Vote up pro-liberty policies for CHANGE.ORG

This is change.org, not change.gov as your thread title suggests?

It is change.org. I fixed the title and must've come across it either in a discussion on change.gov or from the website itself (not sure). Either way, this is equivalent in importance to the Rebuild the party GOP website except for Obamaniacs. Check out all of the partners on the right of the page. There are a lot of big-name progressive/liberal organizations and websites promoting this site, and I think it is just as big if not more than Rebuild the party in terms of the mainstream publicity and number of visitors it will get, so I think it is worthwhile to get our issues and information up top.

Yea, even though this is not an official Obama project, it looks ripe for spreading some constitutional values. :)

Good God! Here is a high vote getter on that site.

"Provide Legal Protections for Animals Through the Animal Bill of Rights

Deprived of legal protection, animals are defenseless against exploitation and abuse by humans. The Animal Bill of Rights would protect animals and recognize that, like all sentient beings, animals are entitled to basic legal rights in our society. In the United States, our Bill of Rights enumerates cherished essential rights including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of assembly. However, as far as the law is concerned, the situation for animals in this country is dire. Despite the fact that they are living, feeling beings, animals in the U.S. are still considered merely “property” by law...

THE RIGHT of companion animals to a healthy diet, protective shelter, and adequate medical care.
THE RIGHT of wildlife to a natural habitat, ecologically sufficient to a normal existence and self-sustaining species population.
THE RIGHT of animals to have their interests represented in court and safeguarded by the law of the land."

There are an awful lot of communists on that site. Take a look at the highest voted idea in the economy section:

Democratize our Economy from the Bottom-Up
Our economy faces many obstacles. Two significant ones are:

- Unaccountable corporate executives and investors
- Low-paid and disempowered employees (that's us)

By democratizing the workplace, we can solve both problems at once (and the panoply of other political, environmental, and economic ills that are linked to them).

The National Labor Relations Act would be amended to include a new provision: if a majority of employees agree, their business entity will henceforth be owned by the employees themselves, provided their organizational structure meets certain requirements (a proportional cap on salary difference, no formal management positions, balanced job complexes, and company decisions made democratically).

There are many examples of firms succeeding under democratic organizational principles, with concomitant increases in productivity, efficiency, and employee heath and happiness - Gore-Tex, Semco, and Mondragon are just a few.

Perhaps more importantly, the experience of democracy in our productive lives enriches us and makes us better civic participants outside of work. No more million dollar "retreats" for executives, no more corporate money funneled into lobbyists, no more managers putting profits above all else.

If we believe in democratic principles, then it's time we insisted that the majority of our waking lives -- work -- is not a top-down dictatorship, but a participatory democracy.

I chose the last. In fact I don't even know why I'm still alive. I guess god has another purpose for me.....

Wait I guess not....

*DIES*

I actually would support an animal rights amendment, but it would be extremely limited. However, it is toward the low-end of my agenda to fix the nation.

If done via amendment, I see nothing wrong with an animal rights amendment. However, big government people could claim new powers with it if we were not careful to keep its purpose limited.

wow, just wow. There are some people with their priorities totally screwed up on there. "put solar panels on the white house", "regulation of television advertising", "Government Take Over of Homeowner Association Fees"... wtf? Apparently they don't quite understand that our country is on that tipping point where we can either pick ourselves up and carry on or totally fall apart.

edited to add: go on there and search for 6000 you'll find a "thirty-thousand.org" idea.
