Abraham Lincoln and a Brokered Convention....

Don't forget James Garfield became the nominee from a brokered convention and he wasn't even on the ballot or running for presidency. Garfield was a good president.

This was before the age of primaries. There is a REASON why there has never been a brokered convention since primaries began. And why they would never allow it to happen now.

Romney is either going to win it with bound delegates at the start, or he will make deals with someone to put him over the top BEFORE his delegates get unbound.

newt gingrich won't drop out
and rick santorum is unsuitable
for the presidency and possibly
the weakest contender against
barack obama of the four left.
if mitt romney has a ceiling of
1000 delegates, tampa goes
brokered in a heartbeat totally.

seriously though, I read the Rothschilds hired John Booth to kill Lincoln, because he wanted to end the fed. Anyone else read about this. I read this is the same reason JFK got kileld, that and he didn't want the troops to go into Vietnam.

The Fed didn't come around for almost another 50 years...

So yeaaa....

Well not the fed per say, but the Rothschild family, something to do with bankers and the money supply. I never said it was true, just something I read.

A lot of the "bad" things Lincoln did occured after a declaration of war, which changes the rules of the game significantly.

Aren't we more in Salmon P. Chase's case than in Lincoln's? And he was made Secretary of Treasury like people have been saying Ron Paul might become...now that's ironic.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pessimistic about our chances, just looking at the delegate counts that we are sure of to this point more closely resembles Chase's case.

Don't know whether or not any look at historical primaries is really worth it (especially considering the fact that less canidates really are considered as there were back in the old days), but I'd say one that could be looked at as interesting is the 1920 Convention where Harding had 6.67% of the delegates at the beginning after his famous "Front Porch Campaign".

Abraham Lincoln was a tyrant. He is the worst president we ever had. He killed the 10th amendment, he was drafted into the presidency.

I don't know about that, our last 2 Presidents killed a few amendments themselves.
