A TELETHON for Ron Paul + Money Bomb What do you Guys THINK!!

Bump, I'm hoping people with expertise in this area are willing to step up, this idea is great!

we'd be able to gain a lot of these types of people that vote for reasons other than substance on issues.

lotta ppl will vote for Fred just because he "looks presidential", for example.

it is very very easy to make inspiring stories about Ron's life.

PLEASE PLEASE lets all take this to Trevor and his company for more insight. If we raised money for a blimp, we can raise money to setup a Telethon, if the MSM wont broadcast us the way we like, I say we broadcast ourselves!!

have you seen the blimp donations lately? The graph isn't exactly vertical. Let's just say if the graph had a wife she'd be less that satisfied.

The blimp is gonna need it's own telethon if we want to keep it in the air past next week.

true that.

I think we are looking at a repeat of when the blimp first launched.

They're gonna need a lot of money in a short amount of time.

I do think the blimp was worth it if you look at all the mentions on the news and the articles around the web.

I vote that we not only have a telethon, but that it be professionally recorded and re-aired throughout the country as an informercial on other cable channels, too!

You might want to be discussing the needing of a PAC to take care of this one.

It is going to take time to set that up.

I really like the idea of a TV event rivalling in size and scope the tea party money bomb.

As a date, I happen to like February 3, 2008 - Super Bowl Sunday - 2 days before Super Tuesday.

As a name, if it's on that date, i kinda like "Super Paul", as in "Super Paul Telethon" but I'll admit it's kinda gay. (As an aside, I'd say that some of the ideas that have worked out great I woulda said are kinda gay).

Let's say the telethon is 5 hours long and appears mostly on Direct TV. Perhaps a half hour of the telethon also appears on one of the networks, nationwide, during the halftime of the Super Bowl.

Who in their right mind would watch a telethon when they could be watching the Green Bay Packers will their 4th Superbowl?:D

Back in the day, and I think they might still do this, many of the TV Networks programmed some really good stuff to go against the superbowl halftime show.

We all do know that a lot of people are watching TV that night, we know what they're watching, and we know when they'll be turning away from that show and for how long.

Also, if it's a lopsided game, there's a chance there will be a lot more eyeballs available for the second half.

I think that when people say "oh we have lots of content", they're mistaken.
I think the hours can be filled, but it might be easiest if you have your best material ready to air the minute the first half ends.

If we're talking about a 12 hour telethon, I just don't see 12 fantastic hours of Ron Paul content. I can see a half hour to an hour of fantastic content and 11 hours of plenty solid content.

It would just be easiest if you don't have to worry too much about making 12 hours fantastic. And I also like the idea of buying a half hour to an hour of network time.

I have no idea if that's economically feasible, but Perot did it.

This sounds great!!!! Let it Roll!!!!
Can we get a list of actions that need to be taken so that people can volunteer to head-them-up. What needs to be done first? Let's see, my input on a first-cut list of very high level tasks...in absolutely no particular order:

- Agree on target market ( I really think this is an older Demographic )
- Develop rough plan and budget
- Negotiate with and acquire studio
- Coordinating building of set
- Determine dates for event and critical milestones
- Draft list of on-air talent, presenters, etc
- Negotiate with broadcast network
- Secure Satellite uplink contract (perhaps studio can do this)
- Raise any upfront funds required
- Secure broadcast production team
- Develop promotional plan (i.e. website)

This is something (unlike the money bombs that were purely grassroots) that has to be coordinated with campaign headquarters and California grassroots as a joint effort.

Okay guys Bryan our admin, has granted us our own forum section..

So let us please post there to better organize this..

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=240

Also guys keep in mind we are way ahead in planning so we can do this right, there maybe other projects on going that may require immediate attention, but for this let us plan for an event in late January.

I'd like to see how much a major network that a large part of the population watches would charge for this. The grassroots can't ever be associated with HQ. And what famous people or extra entertainment would be provided to attract people to it?

.

This has never been done before...The amount of publicity would blow away the blimp + USA Today ad + Tea Party moneybomb combined!
