The Virginia Declaration of Rights bears many similarities to the more famous Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights but, in many respects, states these rights more directly. The resolution passed by Virginia was not part of the founding of a nation and the Virginia Convention which adopted it was comprised entirely or nearly entirely of Christians. In short, the Declaration is based not on mere opinions and political fads, but on the eternal, unchangeable truths of the Gospel and the Word of God.
There is coming a day when all tyrants will be dragged before the throne of God to give account for all of their murders, thefts, rapes, acts of war, devastations, disastrous policies, oppression, neglect, and so on. They will not be subdued through some great struggle, as though even the combined strength of all of humanity could offer the least resistance against the power of God. No, Scripture tells us that they will be slaughtered by the mere breath of God, 2 Thessalonians 2:8.
Regardless of how or why the events of 9/11 happened, regardless of whether you believe in conspiracy theories about it, in the wake of 9/11, the United States government went on a tear of tyrannical laws, policies and actions the like of which have never been attempted or even contemplated by any previous tyranny of history. That the malice and ambition of historical tyrants has been as cosmic as the US government's is not the defining distinction -- all tyrants love and fetishize power and oppression. Rather, it is the caustic mixture of the repudiation of millennia of social, political and moral lessons from human history, with the technological tools that have only become available in the age of Internet and AI which put this multi-decade assault on human liberty and justice on a pedestal of evil that towers as far above all previous historical attempts at absolute global tyranny as the Twin Towers once towered above the Hudson River.
The entire edifice of tyranny which has been erected since 9/11 will be torn down. Notice that I am not offering yet another plea to the occupying tyrants, on this 22nd anniversary of their anti-1776, to please tear down this wall. No, the walls of tyranny shall be torn down:
I want to further clarify that the many proclamations of divine Scripture against all human tyranny are not even in the manner of a threat, as though God will go on bargaining with the tyrants forever. No, it is a stark proclamation of impending doom for all who remain in wickedness, the tyrants and the corrupt rich chief among them. The masses of the wicked are queued up to hurl themselves over the open cauldron of hell and into its belching flames but there, at the very head of the line, are all the tyrants of history, and first among all of them surely are the architects of the post-9/11 tyranny, a political abomination unparalleled in all of human history.
Here is the warning of the Gospel: Flee the coming wrath, (Luke 3:7). The Gospel is not merely an offer, it is the power of God (Romans 1:16) and the flames of divine vengeance are, even now, poised to swallow the entire fallen creation in the unquenchable flames of the eternal lake of fire. The wicked often scoff at the idea of a world-ending miraculous outpouring of divine wrath. If God were so determined upon vengeance, they reason, surely he would have plunged the world into the flames eons ago. But this is because they do not understand God's character. God is both just and merciful. That he will destroy the world is because he is just. That he has borne with the world for so long is because he is merciful. The wicked, being unjust, mistakenly imagine that God's delay is either a sign that he is not there at all, or that he has a casual attitude towards evil, as they themselves do. God exists, and he is flying upon wings of lightning, bearing the eternal flames of never-ending destruction under just divine wrath which will shortly consume the entire world.
At the end of the Age, all the combined might of the nations will be lined up and smashed to powder, like shattering glass-brittle clay pots with a steel rod, see Psalm 2. The outpouring of God's power on creation will be so over-matched that every tyrant will be stripped naked by it, and reduced to writhing agony and shame-faced horror and amazement. The so-called "elites" will be reduced to mourning and despair and Ezekiel 7:17 tells us that every single one of them is going to piss themselves from abject terror. Mankind has never yet even imagined the true meaning of "Shock and Awe". The coming "Shock and Awe" cannot even be described in words and yet, there it is, more real than any nuclear weapon or any other weapon devised by the diminutive mind of man, such as it is. Nothing but absolute, total devastation, loss and agony on a scale beyond all imagination awaits those who continue to rebel against God and his manifest laws of justice and righteousness, to the bitter end.
The project of rolling back the 9/11 Police-State Tyranny is enormous. Even if all of those occupying political office suddenly woke up tomorrow with a true change of heart and repentance and began rolling it back in earnest, it would be a multi-year long project, so enormous is its scale. In terms of GDP or any similar measure, it dwarfs any Manhattan Project or Apollo mission, by far. The corruption has eaten into every single particle of life in modern America. This is not a rhetorical hyperbole, I mean it as literally as it can possibly be said -- it has eaten into every single particle of modern American life, without exception. There is not a single aspect of life you can point to which is not materially affected by this tyrannical evil. And it has set up its throne right in the heart of the so-called "land of the free".
In fact, it had to set its throne up here precisely because we once were the land of the free, and a torch of liberty, justice and righteousness, a shining city set on a hill, showing to the world that the Gospel produces real peace and prosperity, not through slavery and subjugation, but through freedom, the freedom made possible by righteous men dwelling together in peace according to the civil and social principles of God's Word.
There are two ways that the 9/11 Police-State Tyranny can be dismantled. That it will be dismantled is, as I have already said, not even in question. (a) It can be dismantled voluntarily through repentance on the part of our nation and its office-holders. We can recognize that our nation has gone off into idolatry and Molech-worship and return to the Creator, the only true God, resubmitting our nation's political order to his ways and his laws. Or, (b) God will destroy it, with prejudice. That God gleefully destroys execrable tyrannies like the tyranny which is occupying Washington, DC is not only clearly and repeatedly explained in Scripture (see Isaiah 63:1-6, for example), it is amply demonstrated by the remains of the many tyrannies of old, strewn about like so many shattered busts and statues across the timeline of history. Have you ever contemplated how terrifying it must have been to be a common subject in the tyrannies of Hitler, Stalin, Mao or the many other tinpot dictators of the 20th-century? And yet, what became of them? Every single tyranny, no matter how terrible in its aspect, has been bulldozed by the divine decree of history, not even as some kind of great struggle, but in the artless and ignoble fashion in which an insect is doused with bug-spray and dies twitching in blind, pointless agony. The historical prognosis for tyrants is bleak indeed, and the only psychological account we can give for the persistence of modern tyranny with all the lessons of history and the light of the Gospel at the fingertips of every tyrant is that they are blind fools and reckless gamblers.
Here is what will happen to the American Tyranny, more surely than the sun rises (Matthew 24:35):
- The Patriot Act which created the American Gulag in Cuba will be destroyed
- The Military Commissions Act which spits in the face of every single human created in the image of God by denying writ of habeas corpus will be destroyed
- The National Defense Authorization Acts which have eaten the main portion of the wealth of this nation for decades, will be destroyed
- The National Security State, the Pentagon and the entire Military Industrial Complex to which it is attached will be destroyed (Micah 4:3)
- The surveillance state and police state will be destroyed
- The corrupt within the justice system and the courts will be destroyed, their anti-just decisions will be overturned and forgotten
- Corruption in elected representatives and their illegal and odious acts and laws will be rescinded and destroyed
- Corruption of the money will cease and be destroyed (Deuteronomy 25:13-16)
Many more particular evils can be named, all of which will certainly be destroyed. It is not the place of any creature to tell the heavenly Father on what timetable these events will come to pass, but nothing can be more certain than that they shall come to pass.
For this reason, the only question facing today's tyrants is whether they will repent of sin, submit themselves in humiliation before their Creator, and beg his forgiveness and mercy for their sins which truly ascend up to the very heavens. No generation of oppressors and slavers has been as prodigious as this one. Their sins are inestimable yet, the power of God in the Gospel is so great that there yet remains hope while they draw breath. The stark warning and dread proclamation of Scripture of the consequences should they refuse, however, cannot possibly be exaggerated. All the malice of all the tyrants and oppressors in history combined, is not even a drop in the ocean of the boundless malice of the flames of hell. Such hostility has never once even entered into the mind of man, not even in the antediluvian wickedness of Genesis 6:1ff. Divine damnation is eternal and inexorable and no creature can even begin to contemplate it.
To the American tyrants who are occupying my country, I issue this stark and most dread warning without rhetorical flourish or any form of grandiosity: Flee the coming wrath, repent of your sins and believe in Jesus for salvation from eternal hell. You will very soon be stripped naked, your faces flushed red in amazement, reduced to quivering terror in a puddle of your own urine, when the wrath of God is revealed from heaven. God will not be impressed with your weapons. He will not care about your nukes, or your cyber-weapons, or your "top secret" toy projects. Hitler, too, believed until the very end that his mad scientists would, by some miracle, cook up a secret weapon that would wipe out the Allies in a single stroke. And yet, his silly projects were all bulldozed by divine decree, just as you will be if you rebel against God to the bitter end, along with all sinners. There is only one way out of your predicament, and it is the same way which all of us sinners must take: repent of sin, and believe in Jesus for salvation. There is no other option except eternal hell. Nothing but nothing is more certain than this fact.
