I had voted for D. Kucinich - thinking it would bring more Dems over could be a good thing. After thinking about it, I am not sure it could be a good thing, republicans might get ugly if there was a democrat on the same ticket, plus, DK doesn't always hold Liberty as high as some of the other options. I really am at a loss to who could be the best Vp..

With Ron's 8-10% stagnant support which has taken years to grow, winning the GOP nomination is going to be a hell of a task, it'd've to be a person who has appeal within mainstream GOP voters otherwise Ron isn't going anywhere.

Let's put it this way. I donated $500 to Paul so far. If he picks his own son, he even lost my vote. It just reeks of elitism, and that is just what it is.

As I've said before, Rand isn't nobody that his father is pushing, he secured 34% against Obama, now that's a pretty solid achievement & he was even pushed as a potential presidential runner by the media & others so Rand makes it there on his own merit.

And he appeals to not just GOP but also to Democrats, mainstream voters find him extremely engaging so he's the best man to fight against all the negative propaganda

Name Recognition is not an issue with the VP, Palin was virtually unknown and because of being the VP nom is a household name.

McCain/Palin was an establishment pair, they've all the big money & media in their pocket to make anyone popular all of a sudden & talk them up as a "maverick" but we CAN'T do that so such comparisons are unrealistic

Plus all the other positives to Me Fortuno and Haley are VP pick juggernauts either of which would completley change the race if picked.

Nobody knows these people on the national GOP stage & as I've said, we don't have the money or the media at our beck & call to make them popular overnight so we need someone who ALREADY has an appeal among the mainstream GOP voters.

He has merit. I never said he didn't. I like him in the Senate, and I think it would be great for him to continue there. Should Ron Paul not become president, and Rand runs in 2016, I would certainly be looking into voting for him. However, to run with his father is just anti-republican. It is a statement that says only the Paul family is worthy of the Oval Office.

I'd like to urge you to consider some of the following questions -

Do you think Ron Paul can go against all the corporatist interests & Fed & all that & they'd just sit around & watch him destroy their power-structure? Would they not try & do what has been attempted many a times against past presidents? So considering that, is it not vital to have a solid VP who will definitely carry the torch of liberty & take the country forward on the Constitutional path that Founders had envisioned? Will selecting a neo-con or non-libertarian-leaning VP ensure that in case something happens to Ron?

So in this light, is VP such a trivial position in the case of Ron Paul?

And remember he's the ONLY libertarian-leaning person with a national GOP appeal

And sorry to marr your Rand2016 plans but there'd be none of that if Ron couldn't make it in 2012 & we get a socialist covert-dictator (be it Obama or Romney) & as history shows, once a country is in economic mess, socialistm becomes extremely palatable, that's how FDR secured FOUR terms, there'd be no room libertarian-leaning presidents then & without Rand, Ron just can't win & if he wins with a neo-con or an establishment VP then he'll be dead & the VP will become president.

I never said it was trivial. I said he needs to seek a partner outside of his family. He also needs to build relations with mainstream GOP voters and politicians. You don't like it. I understand that, but there is no moving forward, without coalition building. Building up with guys with some integrity like Daniels or Fortuno helps a great deal. I'm certainly not advocating putting someone like Romney on the ticket.

I do appreciate; however, you not calling me a troll. At least someone seems to believe me. I'm trying to point out what I believe is best for Paul, the movement, and all of us.

I do really like Rand, too. :)

Ventura should have been on the list, despite his preference to only be veep if Paul runs as a 3rd party/independent candidate. He is a serious candidate, being a former Governor, nationally known, and yes, his forthright dealing with the elephant in the room (the 9-11 false flag that has enabled all the tyranny of the last decade, and causes most people to ignore Paul's arguments for non-intervention) is a plus. Pat Buchanan is the next best choice, in terms of issue compatibility, national appeal, and ability to rally the conservative base. Age is a secondary issue---it is more urgent to effect policy change than get Paul elected with a standard GOP VP who will likely reverse Paul's policies as soon as they become President. Put two older people on a ticket who will take this country on the right track and keep it there.
