A New Tax System

I've got a great idea for a tax system as well. No taxes, period.

But I don't, and yet I still have to pay for it.

The subjects of every state ought to contribute toward the support of the government, as nearly as possible, in proportion to their respective abilities; that is, in proportion to the revenue which they respectively enjoy under the protection of the state ....[As Henry Home (Lord Kames) has written, a goal of taxation should be to] 'remedy inequality of riches as much as possible, by relieving the poor and burdening the rich.'
Adam Smith

I'm not going to go easy on you guys anymore. I've wasted a lot of time thinking that I was debating freely with intelligent people. You are smarter than this, demonstrate it.

The federal government still has a responsibility to defend US citizens from foreign attackers.

I like the system outlined in the OP. :)

The OP did not come up with the concept, I think he just copied my thread from a few months back. I favor voluntary contributions over taxation, don't you, kade?

I couldn't really care less what Adam Smith had to say; he was correct on a few things and incorrect on others.

Even then, it still doesn't stop the fact that taxation is a form of coercive action, and worse yet, theft; some greater collective authority is forcing me to pay for something whether I want it or not...last time I checked the forceful taking of wealth was stealing, no matter who does it (whether it be one individual stealing from another or a collective organization stealing and giving to another).
