Just as an FYI, I want you to know that I am a 48-year-old man from Howell, Michigan with five military aged children and stepchildren. My step daughter’s boyfriend Greg, and his ship, The Philippine Sea, have just been deployed to the Straits of Hormuz, (Iran), and will be there in just a few short weeks. Right in harms way.

I am old enough to remember Vietnam and all of its travesties ad nauseum. As a nine year old I remember helping my eleven year old neighbor deliver newspapers to homes that still hung out the stars for all their boys in combat in the Vietnam War.
I remember so vividly, one single mom with two stars in her window who never had the honor of seeing either of them return to these great United States alive, ever again.

I played war often as a kid, but as that same kid I soon learned what war could do, and I know how foolish war really is.

I learned as a nine year old what our candidates for president, (except Ron Paul), still have not learned. The only honor in war is for our sons and daughters to come home alive! Please bring them home now!!! That is why I have taken up the cause for Ron Paul.

War propagated on a lie is only more foolish when continued on the guise of honor and then misconstrued and supported as a fight against terrorism.

Here is my question to you, all of my brothers and sisters in the Ron Paul revolution. I have the opportunity to be at a John McCain Town hall meeting here in Howell, Michigan tomorrow. I have no shame in the defense of family and country. I will surely ask any question or protest by any means necessary. Even to the point of arrest. (Peaceful Civil Disobedience)

Are there any good ideas, NO, make that GREAT IDEAS, for what I should say or do to put an end to these warmongers’ efforts to get the nomination as president.

I have much more to write but I will leave it at that. Our campaign needs a home run and I am willing to swing for the fences.

A Father Who Loves His Kids and Loves Peace!

I dont have any advice hopefully some of our people on here can help but wanted you to know thanks for the story --I am heading to Kalamazoo tomorrow to hand out slim Jims for the good Dr. Paul

Be sure to ask him about his statement about 100 years in Iraq. Also, bring up the fact that around 70% of Americans want the war to end and the troops to come home. I'll do some fishing around to come up with more.

Go to www.oregoniansforronpaul.com and subscribe to their email forwards and forward them to everyone you know. You don't have to be from Oregon, either - I'm from Minnesota. You can't do this at the campaign, but you can use it to let people in your area know about Ron Paul, because we want the vote to go to Ron Paul after McCain is discredited.

You could shout your question: "HOW MANY SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE PARENTS AT THIS MEETING (AND THE REST OF AMERICA) WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO DRAFT IN TO YOUR 100 YEAR WAR?"

Pete

Perhaps this article would provide a good question:

http://www.parade.com/benazir_bhutto_interview.html

"She would tell him, she replies, that propping up Musharraf’s government, which is infested with radical Islamists, is only hastening disaster. “I would say, ‘Your policy of supporting dictatorship is breaking up my country.’ I now think al-Qaeda can be marching on Islamabad in two to four years.”"

Yet another instance where our intervention has been the cause of, directly or indirectly, the interruption of the natural order of things on a foreign country.

If you really want to shake some people up, you might make copies of the flyer shown in this thread: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=34918 and pass them out to people attending the event.

I think too many people who support war close their hearts to the human cost. That flyer would give them a jolt. Maybe some would re-think who they ought to vote for.

Thanks for sharing a little bit of yourself with us. This is what I would ask Mr McCain. "Sir my question to you is a 2 part question Mr McCain, you have seen war, you have experienced the horrors of war, why would you ever send our children into a war that for one is an illegal occupation and two send them into a war where our national security was never at risk, making this an act of aggression and not a war. My second question Mr McCain is why does Ron Paul recieve more donations from active members of the military than you do?

You are an American hero!

Go to newswithviews.com and read article entitled "Iraq War based on Fraud," by Frosty Wooldridge. It is a great article that may give you some ideas. I have heard the word DRAFT being tossed around again. Thank you for your personal story.

you might want to site a poem by wilfred owens a soldier who died in world war 1 as a source of wisdom.
DULCE ET DECORUM EST1

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares2 we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest3 began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots4
Of tired, outstripped5 Five-Nines6 that dropped behind.

Gas!7 Gas! Quick, boys! – An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets8 just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling,
And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime9 . . .
Dim, through the misty panes10 and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering,11 choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud12
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest13
To children ardent14 for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori.15

8 October 1917 - March, 1918

1 DULCE ET DECORUM EST - the first words of a Latin saying (taken from an ode by Horace). The words were widely understood and often quoted at the start of the First World War. They mean "It is sweet and right." The full saying ends the poem: Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori - it is sweet and right to die for your country. In other words, it is a wonderful and great honour to fight and die for your country

the last bit is the most powerful bit.

im sure the answer will be that we may have gone in under wrong pretenses but now that we are there we have to stay there and win. but the fact is that staying there accomplishes nothing but what has been happening in the past 5 years of staying there. and those past 5 years were horrible even more so than saddams regime because upto 600,000 iraqis (i suggest using the word human beings because some ppl simply dont think iraqis deserve to live) have died in this period.

also mention what RP said in the debate about arming the sunnis. it might come back to bite america just as saddam came back to bite america with weapons it supplied

first, thank you for your initial post. It brought tears to the eyes of this preggo momma... (easy to do LOL) I could "hear" the heartfelt emotion through it.

ask about the Draft - as a father, would you want your children drafted into a war that you believe we shouldn't be in?

How about this: McCain claims to be a Christian, right? Ask him, if God says that your yea should be yea and your nay should be nay - as a Senator, Service Man, and Potential President, he swears by God to uphold the Constitution. If it is Unconstitutional for us to be there... but we are there because it's for "the good and protection of the Country" for us to stay- how is he upholding his oath to God and the Constitution by not making right this wrong that has been done?

Thank you for your post. Here is at least one idea:
"I would like to know your position on Muslim's from Michigan wanting to sell Burkahs in statewide markets as well as one way Muslim-American travellers."

minor modification of below quote:

You could shout your question: "HOW MANY SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE PARENTS AT THIS MEETING WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO DRAFT FOR YOUR 100 YEAR WAR?"
Pete

Even better if you actually do get to ask a question ask this in a calm and deliberate way, it's good.

Or you could carry a sign that says WAR! 100 YEARS MORE! MCCAIN 2008!

And pull it out at an opportune time.

I have 6 children all who may end up fighting a noun if anyone but Ron Paul is elected. You probably won't get much time to ask a question but here's two I'd like the answer to:

1.
Senator McCain, it only took 19 terrorists to attack America on September 11, 2001.

I would like to know why we are spending our children into Trillions of dollars of debt, fighting an undeclared war on a noun (terrorism) in 2 countries, that are thousands of miles away, neither of which attacked the United States, neither of which have the military capability whatsoever of following us home WHILE, WHILE Senator McCain, we have left our borders wide open for MILLIONS of illegal ALIENS only a few of which could do us great harm with bio-weapons or nuclear weapons?

............. he stumbles an answer and rebutt with.......

Now Senator McCain you must know that according to the CIA, it is the inept foreign policy of the United States that got us into this mess in the Middle East (google: Ron Paul educating Rudy) and if there were 1000 Islamic Jihad terrorists before 9/11 or even 10,000..... how many are there now after the Moslem world has watched as the United States has dismantled the economy and infrastructure of a fellow Moslem nation and continue occupying them?

2.
Who is David Walker and why should Americans be listening to him?

(answer: David Walker is Comptroller General of the United States who runs the Government Accountability Office

......... he may or may not know, if he doesn't know then tell him........... but after he answers say this.....

David Walker says and I quote "I will argue that the most serious threat against the United States is not someone hiding in a cave in Afghanistan or Pakistan, but our own fiscal irresponsibilty." Unquote. Senator McCain, as Mr. David Walker chief accountant for the U.S. sees it, the survival of the Republic is at stake. We cannot afford this war on a noun Senator McCain, we cannot afford to borrow Trillions from China, Japan, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, Our Republic is at stake sir.

I could go on and on but I don't think you'd get further than these......

If you can...... email what happens to me at [email protected]

Kindest regards my friend. God Bless you and God Bless the United States of America!

I would just try to sound as neutral as possible. If a McCain supporter hears your question, and hears the fire in your heart, they'll ignore you because they'll feel you're biased (which you are).

I would just ask him to explain what he meant by his 100 years statement.

The only problem with that is he'd just give his standard answer that we have been in Japan and Europe for 50 years....... he'll just turn his head another way and move on.

I don't think we should sound angry but at this point, I don't think it's going to work to try and sound neutral. If being against this war on a noun and not wanting to see our economy destroyed by fiat currency is biased and thus we get ignored then so be it.

In my humble opinion there is nothing wrong with questions coming from the heart.
