Gary Johnson A compromise between the NOBP folks and the Gary Johnson folks?

I've been thinking and I was wondering if there were a compromise between the NOBP folks and the Gary Johnson folks. Now that I think of it, it's more of the NOBP folks HELPING the Gary Johnson folks rather than a compromise. The deal is this. IF and only IF you get polled, you indicate that you would vote for Gary Johnson come November in order to help him garner the 15% to get into debates. Once November comes, vote your conscience.

I know there are some that may think that this might not be enough but those polls usually use a very small sample, somewhere between 2,000 - 10,000 folks maybe? In any case, this is just an appeal to those who may happen to get POLLED. I respect that you want to vote NOBP as I felt that way for quite awhile too so I don't want anyone to change their vote to Gary Johnson but just help him get into the debates so we don't have to watch Obama argue with Romney about how much they agree with each other.

What say you guys? Is this something some of the NOBP folks could live with?

I'd do that for sure in the unlikely event that I'd be polled. In the general, I don't have to pick candidates in only one party. As a lib, I've voted for dems, reps, libs, greens, cp-s, reform, natural law but no socialist. Each race and situation is different. So yeah

If Ron Paul is not the GOP nominee, I will try to get Gary into a debate. Actually, I do get polled from time to time. I'm not sure how they select who to poll, but it does happen at my house.

I hope people don't rip you apart over this. It seems reasonable to me. We're all on the same side, just taking differing approaches.

In my state they don't count write in's if Ron Paul isn't the nominee. If my choice is between those 3 it will be Gary Johnson.

NOBP is just plain stupid. "Scatter" will have no impact on the GOP and they will delude themselves into thinking the scatter votes were all for Santorum, Gingrich and West.

Better off just sitting home or voting 3rd party in that case. Even if you do not like Gary voting LP can help build a needed formidable 3rd party and like the OP said get Gary into the debate. (the message into the national debate and dialog).

This thread is pointless and doomed to fail from inception. The mindset put forth by the OP is the same one that is dividing this movement and dismantling the hard work many of us have done to build it to this point.

The liberty movement was NEVER about one single person. To even get Ron Paul to the point of political viability took decades of hard work...it didn't just begin in 2007. Many of us have been supporting liberty candidates and causes over the year, and now we've got people that show up THIS single election cycle and tell many of us who have been here for YEARS that "Either you're NOBP or against us and this cause."

Really...you're going to say that to me, and others, who put everything in motion to get us all to this point so YOU had the opportunity to vote for Ron in the primaries? Those of us that were fostering liberty for years so Ron could be in the debates? You're going to join the boards one year before the general election and splinter the liberty movement? That really, really, irks me and I'm tired of it. This thread should die.

No, perhaps you should start a poll thread. Give three options, but make sure to specify that the poll must be a random phone poll: 1) No 2) Yes, but not a presidential preference poll 3) Yes

And yes, this OP has a good idea, one I've thought about and proposed before.
