$8,000 PER U.S. CITIZEN FOR IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN WARS:
"The cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could total $2.4 trillion through the next decade, or nearly $8,000 per man, woman and child in the country, according to a Congressional Budget Office estimate scheduled for release Wednesday. ... In the months before the March 2003 Iraq invasion, the Bush administration estimated the Iraq war would cost no more than $50 billion."

Scary.

Shocking film points out trillion dollar deficit due to Iraq war even though it is primarily about bad reporting on Iraq:

More shocking than that, even after all we've been through and in light of this information, a good chunk of Americans support military action against Iran. It'll never end.

You buy cars for $8k?!?!?

A family of 4 that would be $32K

Oh, btw I bought my 2003 Ford Ranger with 30,000 miles on it for $6500 in 2005. =) New cars would be nice but I just can't bring myself to pay $2000 just to be the one to drive it off the lot.

You buy cars for $8k?!?!?

Yeah, but their always brand new used ones...
Their always new to me though I guess.
I seriously miscalculated when I posted that.
Last car we bought was a great deal on a 2002 Saturn for $3000.00

Other ways to think of it:

-- More than $120K for every person in the state of New York.
-- Almost two and a half times the entire financial output of the state of New York in one year (gross state product)
-- About twice the total amount received from Federal income taxes in one year
-- Four times the cost of social security for one year
-- Close to the entire amount of income received by the Federal government in one year, from all sources (taxes, duties, social security, etc)

Of course this doesn't help matters:

US's triple-A credit rating 'under threat'

By Francesco Guerrera, Aline van Duyn and Daniel Pimlott,in New York

But Moody's warning comes at a time when US confidence in its economic prowess has been challenged by the rising threat of a recession, a weak dollar and the credit crunch.
