80's Music - Any Genre

Yeah, I know The Smiths inadvertently planted the seeds of what would later become emo and all other kinds of whiny, self-indulgent music. But when they wrote and performed songs about being brooding, sensitive outsiders, it always came across with FAR more authenticity and sincerity than many of the poseurs that came after them. The inimitably wistful voice of Morrissey and the chiming, lyrical guitar of Johnny Marr lend a weight and truth to this music that's simply impossible to ignore.
