80's Music - Any Genre

The hell you say!

Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple and Black Sabbath and Kiss and Motorhead and Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and Rainbow and so on and so on...was what, exactly?

;)

Hard rock, or as it's now called, "classic rock". ;)

Although the case can always be made that Black Sabbath were the true fathers of "metal" (as a non-blues based music). Obviously the term was created in the 70s, and applied to Zep (my favorite band) and friends, but it was co-opted by "speed metal" and "thrash metal" in the 80s. They even let the nu-metal guys call themselves metal now, along with Poison and Bon Jovi. Anyone can get into this club!

LoL - I'll be tuning into KFSL - Fossil radio.

Going obscure, eh? Saw em play live in the day ... Screaming in the Night tour?

IMHO - The 80's did not have a whole lot to offer... Heavy Metal and Hard Rock are my favorites, although my collection contains one, and only one non hard rock album with an absolutely beautiful voice - Karen Carpenter...

Did he say album?

Nothing worth a damn came out of the 80's except maybe some of that alternative 'drowning kitten music'...this brings back fond memories of debutantes, mescal, panama red and fine texas meth...

Classic 70s song... but there was great music in the 80s! (If you like metal).

And how can we forget the third greatest innovator of electric guitar playing? (After Jimi and Eddie of course).

Personally, I think the 70's had the greatest music, then the 60's. The late 70's actually sucked, first disco, then a lot of crap music like the Pina Colada Song, etc. The 80's started slow, then improved until about 87-88. Music pretty much died in the 90's. A few good songs, mostly one hit wonders in the 90's. Country took off, though, but not the old classic country of the 60's -70's.
