6.3 quake hits off Argentina

Step away from the fault line.

Seriously, move away from any known fault lines.

so far no damage...

the andes can be unstable. todays
quake was in the southern atlantic
in an area above the south pole...

THIS IS AN OLD NEW YORK TIMES STORY FROM 1920

NEW YORK TIMES --- gist of article. argentine quake most
severe since 1869. half of the buildings in the town of mendosa
are in ruins. 150 bodies recovered so far, more to follow...

Don't think so, Time, at least not based on the stuff I saw. Can't remember which program or channel, one of the sciencey ones. I remember they were talking about the impact it would have on migration patterns, especially of birds.

They showed some guy who goes into bat caves, plucks down a bat from its perch, then he takes it miles away and puts it in some doohickey that zaps it with a manmade pole shift (something to do with magnets in the gizmo, I think?). Anyway, then he releases the bat and monitors it to see how long it takes it to regain its bearings and find its way.

Interesting. I think I was mistaken with the 2005 I think it was may 2000. I think Eisenstein has a few predictions based in ice caps. I forget now, its been a long time since I read anything on the subject.

It's becoming more "popular" with the whole 2012 doomsday stuff out there.

I first read about the idea years and years ago when I came across Cayce (Edgar) through a book called "The Sleeping Prophet."

Cayce made a lot of interesting predictions....some that seem to have come to pass (breakup of USSR, the spread of a "religious war"). Some yet to come...

One of the things he spoke of was a magnetic pole shift....

Do you know where your faults are?

Might be worth looking into.
I am well north of the area affected by the New Madrid Fault. There are no fault lines in my area.
It may be something to consider when buying a home or relocating. ;)

Yes, but there are very few areas without their own brand of natural disaster to consider. The best thing is to familiarize yourself with the local disaster(s), know where the safest spots in your area are, what your escape routes would be, and what the area's record is with getting things back on track again.

Cayce spoke of a magnetic pole shift? that's interesting. Did he say when it would occur?

My only issue is snow/cold. I can deal with that. (I don't like it though) A safe zone otherwise. :)

Found this, Bruno:

"Question: What great change or the beginning of what change, if any, is to take place in the earth in the year 2,000 to 2,001 A.D.? Answer: When there is a shifting of the poles; or a new cycle begins.” Edgar Cayce Reading 826-8 – August 11, 1936"

Thanks, Ms.D. I found this, too:

Foresaw a shift of the Earth's poles around the millennium

In the late 1920's and early 1930's, Cayce was the first to describe the concept of the shifting of the pole as a result of the crust of the Earth moving independently from the core of the Earth to bring different a surface area over the spin axis. During the past 30 years, this concept has received more and more attention by geophysicists, some of whom now seriously argue that the crust does move independently. Some geophysicists now also argue that the best way to explain a variety of paleo sea-level and other data is that it moves and shifts fairly frequently and more rapidly than previously imagined.

Cayce predicted changes to the Earth surface to begin some time between 1958 and 1998. The cause of these dramatic Earth changes will be the shift in the world's magnetic poles around the year 2000. Cayce predicted that when this pole shift occurs it would begin reversals in the world's climate so that:

"..where there has been a frigid or semi-tropical climate, there will be a more tropical one, and moss and fern will grow."

Cayce's prediction of a pole shift occurred in 1998. According to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, in 1998 something changed the Earth's gravitational field which moved the magnetic poles closer together. The NASA article explained that as the ice on the poles melted, ocean currents moved water toward the equator, which factors researchers believe to be partly responsible, in conjunction with shifts in atmospheric patterns, for this ongoing shift in the Earth's magnetic field. This NASA finding affirms Cayce's prediction of a pole shift.

We get tremors and small 2's here in Charleston Co. every once and a while. Actually just had a 3 centered in Dorchester Co. last August. The fault line is about 15 mi. north west of my house in Summerville, Dorchester Co. which just happens to be the largest fault line and most active area siesmically on the east coast. A 7.3 earthquake occurred along this fault line in 1886 that completely destroyed Charleston. Apparently we're far overdue for another. :(
