"THE hours are long and the work monotonous, but begging pays well for at least one of Sydney's homeless men who earns up to $50,000 a year from good samaritans. Ken Johnson, 52, makes his living at George and Market St, outside the Myer store in Sydney's CBD, where he sits for up to 16 hours daily, seven days a week. On a good day, he said, he takes in $400 from generous passers-by."

Hmmm...... I wonder how much one could make in a modern American city.

I don't know what they make, but there are several career beggars in my neigborhood in Buffalo (10 years+). So I guess they are making enough to make it worth their while.

If I'm in a good mood I'll give them my change from a store purchase. If I'm in a bad mood (Which I am in mostly now), i'll point out they have been out here 10 years and I've done my part when things were going well for me, before the government ran the economy into the ground and my retail business has 35% the sales now, than it did 3 years ago.
