50 Shades of Grey describes American society metaphorically.

Americans seem to enjoy being dominated by billionaires who control the media, politics and education. And if you try to wake many of them up they resist. Just like in Plato's Allegory of the Cave they resist being freed.

Of course there are plenty out there that can be reached and helped to break the chains, so to speak. That is why we must promote free thinking and alternative media.

Fifty Shades, unless I'm mistaken, was a "thing" with women, mostly.

And the only reason it was "hot" was because the main character was rich.

If it was some guy in a house trailer, it would have been an episode of Cops.

Yup. "S and M mommy porn" is the best way I've heard it described. lol :D

No it wasn't hot just because he was rich, it was his desire for power and control that was attractive to her and the immense wealth was a side effect of being power hungry. But ya your comment isn't entirely off base.

From the same website:

Is It OK to Have Sex With a Robot?

...

The Christian Post spoke with Christopher Benek, an associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale who is working on a Ph.D. focusing on technology and theology, Craig Gross, founder of XXXChurch.com, a website that helps people with porn and sex addiction, and Shellie R. Warren, a blogger with XXXChurch.com.

Having sex with a robot is clearly outside God's design for sex, they all agreed.

And Americans today seem to want to be controlled.

The interplay of dominanace and submission is THE ordering principle amongst most higher animals. It is silly to think that we have somehow "civilized" it out of our behavior. It rules politics and is deeply wired into our sexual responses. 50 Shades of Grey is merely an ancient, powerful force poking its head out of the subconscious into the daylight. And it amuses me to see the intellectuals get their undies all twisted about it.

I can easily recognize evolutionary psychology principles at work here. However, most principles that guide reproductive preferences are at the micro (individual) level. What we have in society is more a psychological surrender to inferior status under the guidance of the ruling elite.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who immediately thought of this.

Christian Grey is corporate America. While Bateman is an unrealistic parody of the coked up corporate narcissist, Grey is more terrifying, because he is so much more real. While Bateman stocked his fridge with severed limbs, Grey fills his with ( apparently) gluten-free pancakes. His family look and act like a bland parody of the American WASP elite: a blow-dried mother, Dr Grace, a bad-boy brother, and a sister so two-dimensional she had to be played by Rita Ora in a bad wig.

LOL

Somehow being chained up and spanked in a trailer doesn't seem like as much fun as having it done in a mansion.

So true. I read some of it and it was actually quite unfathomably boring. The exact same sex scene was basically repeated 200 times word for word. Imagining it as a woman being dominated by a poor man just blew my mind. The author would have been burned at the stake.

So if Tyrone Bigguns was cast in the same role, it wouldn't be as sexy? ROFL
