It's (still) a free country, gas stations can set their own prices based on supply and demand. If you're the only gas station for 100 miles, and you only have a little bit of gas left, why not jack up your price? Thus is your reward for bringing gas to where it's needed, and this creates incentive for others to move in and challenge your monopoly.

Not wtf, as in how dare they... but wtf, as in what the hell happened between my town and yours.
Gas here is 3.57 average

Wow, here it is just the opposite. The diesel costs more, and the unleaded is much less.

Oh $4.59 isn't so bad-we are out of regular gas at of the surrounding stations here-I put premium in my car-and yes my car runs like shit if I don't-anyhow it ran me $4.89 a gallon. I am more concerned about when the stations will be getting more gas, apparently their corporate stores are telling them they won't even know when more gas will be sent until Thursday. The Quiktrip here is completely out of gas-all gas.

That happened here as well... Every station in town eventually ran out of gas today.

makes sense, refineries are down for hurricane warnings, trucks aren't able to distribute. The stations closer to the refineries get their fuel first.
How else will the employees get to work?

That's my question too. Do we only have one day's supply at any given time? Or did everybody decided to go out and get gas to be safe? I would think it would take at least a couple days before everybody started running out.

Yea gas prices here will be crazy-high tomorrow. Supposedly due to the storm and the closing of refineries, it will be going up to around $1- $1.50 per gallon. 5 dollar range here we come

Go live in Miami, we typically have that once a year. We get along fine even with no electricity and no stop lights! :D

$3.53 in PA and still going down (I think). Did this happen to you during the last Hurricane?

I wonder how much this will effect the rest of the nation?

I noticed that silver is starting a slight upward trend as well.

$4.25 now in Anderson SC at the cheap places. Was $3.89 when I spent $15 for less than 4 gallons about 3pm to get my Jeep off empty and $3.42 yesterday when i should have filled up.

eb

$3.89 here in Danville VA; was $3.45 yesterday......will be $4.00 by morning if not higher; rampant gas outages; and people going crazy bout groceries.

weird, usually this area pumps up the prices at any necessary chance, but i haven't seen any lines or price changes *yet... however ill be filling up tonight just to be safe

$3.69/gal over here in Southern California. Haven't been hit by outages but we have a lot of refineries around here. That sucks though that the hurricane does that to consumers.
