36 Cheap American Beers, Ranked

Drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon as we type.$14.xx a case.It was selected as America's Best in 1893,sez so right on the can.
I assume it still holds the title,I don't see any other Beers putting Blue Ribbons on their labels.
I grew up with PBR,, and a few not on the list.

And of course some of the Canadian brews.

I'm not a big fan of bitter beers either, but thankfully, there's many, many kinds of beers. Check out this chart, and avoid the ones with high IBU's:

I particularly am a fan of wheat beers. Weissbier, weizenbier, witbier (yum!). I haven't really found an american wheat that I was a big fan of.

Upland Brewing Co makes the best American wheat beer I have ever had ( that was not homemade ) .

I'm not a beer fan yet. The ones I've tried have been too bitter for my taste. I've been addicted to O'Mara's Irish Cream lately and not in the mood to experiment much. Maybe in the coming months.

Beer, wine and coffee are all acquired tastes. So are the sipping hard alcohols like whiskey and cognac.

Try this one if you can find it, it's pretty popular and Trader Joe's sells it, I think COSTCO too:

Red Tail Ale by Mendocino Brewing Co... that was our top # 1 pick for quality beer back in college.

Very refreshing, amazing flavor.. does have a little bit of bitter but if you pick up a six pack and drink one or two a night, once or twice a week your taste buds will begin to adjust pretty quickly and soon you will find that all of those flavors behind the bitterness are a lot more incredible than you imagined before, when all you could taste was bitter.

Hey, I think I saw some of that at Trader Joe's last time I went. :) I know they have a shelf of beer by the bottle so you can try one without having to buy a whole case. I'll keep an eye out for that brand.

Most ales taste best served a little bit warmer than lagers relatively by a few degrees (budweiser and most of the beers on the list are lagers, most micro brews are ales). Lagers are usually served as cold as possible to help mask the bad tastes and ales served a little warmer to bring out the flavors.. however I've found Red Tail still has excellent flavor when served very cold and it will help mask the bitterness, not to mention it's more refreshing and summer is upon us.

Keystone Light is not the worst American beer. Sure, it's watery, but it's not awful either.

Lager is a cheap way to get drunk and pee a lot. Some are better than others, usually people like the more crisp lagers with less offensive flavor. I do prefer to see Keystone Light on the beer pong table over Natty Ice or something.

Due to carbs I eliminated the beer and developed a taste for straight Johnny Walker Red $35 per 1.75L. Much cheaper than inexpensive beer.

PBR All the way. Best cheap beer ever. I drink enough of it to be an expert by now.

Granted, I haven't had that many beers, but I'm hard-pressed to think of anything more pleasant to sip on a Sunday afternoon than a Miller High Life.

Exactly. Natty is just nasty. And if you include malt liquor 40oz. beers in this evaluation Keystone Light begins to sound like sweet nectar of the gods, both old and new gods.
