3000 Mile Oil Change Myth BUSTED!

Just put a quart of Lucas in with every oil change. And you can get by with every ~10,000 miles between changes.

NO. DO NOT USE that stuff. Slick 50 does nothing for your vehicle and in fact can do more damage than anything.

I am an Amsoil Dealer, and no it's not a pyramid scheme... ha ha that's a common myth.

And Mobil 1 is one of the best oils out there, however Amsoil is a step above. In fact Amsoil has been proven to be the highest quality oil on the market by independent lab tests.

BUMP... nothing but AMSOIL in my cars... long term mechanical insurance, with better fuel efficiencies, and less pollutants.

BTW:

With a FINITE resource like crude oil and the current imposed crisis', the push for BIOFUELS... you figure government could give incentives to recycle OILS; like your kitchen cooking oils and motor OILS... YET where's the RECYCLING CENTERS you can sell back to the government/WMI/yotta yotta.

If the people were offered a reward to recycle OILS... not only would it be successful, it would reduce a multitude of pollutants and contaminations...

HOW MANY oil containers go in the trash?
How much GOOD OIL is wasted?
How many OIL plastic containers are wasted?
How much dirty oil contaminates the environment?
How much contaminated oil causes Health problems?
How about reduced OIL dependencies, more money circulation and stimulus.

On the other hand of, UNPRODUCTIVE LAWS, states charge 5-10 cents per Can/bottle for Redemption Value/Recycle Deposit... then when you take cans to a redemption location, they give you like 2 cents.

Once again, it's all a MONEY MAKING SHELL GAMES, BY and FOR Government at all levels!

Energy Policy? Worthless policies, Worthless Politicians, Thieving Government!

Yes and no. Every customer I get that wants to buy Amsoil I ask them if they have over 100k on their vehicle. If they do, I try to steer them from going with a synthetic. Why?

Because synthetic oil has lots of detergents and will clean out sludge. If your seals are dried up and have a ring of sludge around them from years of petroleum oil usage, the detergent in the new synthetic oil will clean it out. If the seal is cracked (and if it is dry there is a good chance it will be), then you can get a leak. Upgrading from petroleum to synthetic under the 100,000 is almost always pretty safe.

Sludge and old? Sounds like my cars.

Amsoil is really good--it's a shame it's such a pyramid-scheme setup though.

...and what would you call your conventional global corporation?

Thanks for the info everyone!

I religiously have my oil changed every 3,000 miles. It is due now. Maybe if I don't, I won't be struck by lightening . . . . . . . :D

i used to change at 3k but after studying alot about how oil works and what it does, i go 5k now and i use mobile 1 full syn. i could go more but i choose not to. i also just dump my used oil right to the back side of my drive in the same spot for 13 years now. i kid you not..there are still weeds and small trees that grow around it and get tall enough that a good weed eating is needed about once a month. i dont think oil is as bad as they want you to think.

I use mobil1 and go between 10,000-11,000 miles between changes. I am tempted to go 15,000 per change, I think synthetic is that good of an oil. When I drain at 10,000 and feel the old oil between my fingers and compare it to the new it still feels the same.....

On large marine diesels, the oil is never changed.

Viscosity agents and detergents are added as needed, based on onboard testing.

New oil is added only to replace oil consumed or lost.
