Or castrate a beautiful harmless creature like a piglet?

Shooting a deer and harvesting the meat is leaps and bounds better than how most people's food is processed.

Out my back door while they are eating my crops, they eat mine, I eat them , or sometimes you get the bear , sometimes the bear gets you, it is all subjective , I know.... I live in the earth like others , but I have always been at one with the earth , the animals , plants , fish . I understand where i fit in the puzzle. Most men never understand where they fit anywhere, think about that . If they did , accepted it , did the best , the world would not be quite so fucked up, but no , most do not strive to learn , to accept, to do the best .Instead the are conniving , lazy , and under achieving , which is unacceptable.This is how you arrive at what there is now...

Having trouble assessing tone here - sarcasm? If not, bear in mind we all kill to live every day of our lives. There is no escaping it. We either do it our own selves or we pay others to do it for us. If I hire a stranger to murder my neighbor, I am still a murderer.

Living is in some ways a tough deal.

All points above taken.. and it was sort of tongue n cheek comment'sarcasm on my part... although to some extent it had my personal sentiment towards this particular animal. I may have seen a movie where Queen of England allows a lightly injured deer to escape after observing his/her offspring.

But fully realize how chicken, beef, lamb, fish, lobster I eat are routinely killed in much more brutal way at mass scale. So not at all passing any judgment here in all seriousness

What where you shooting? CCI?

OK, the rounds were the bulk Remington hollow points. 36 grains coming out the snoot at 1280 with 131 lb-ft energy.

Standard CCIs are 40 gr at 1070 for around 102 lb-ft. The Remingtons are significantly unreliable, but when they go bang they hit a lot harder than the CCI.
