That was always the biggest lie. There never was libertarian moment. There was a Ron Paul moment that attracted libertarians because Ron is a libertarian. But most of the coalition was something other than libertarian.
I'm not a Libertarian, definitely not in the "the minimum wage should never be raised" form of Libertarianism that is practiced here.
In the last 4 years things have gotten much worse. And change like that isn't going to drive the people who see it that way towards politics, but more to living in a cave.
The smarter people got fed up a while ago. Now the not quite as smart people are fed up, and they're voting for Trump or Cruz. The smarter fed up people might think, now, that chopping off the heads of the bad guys is the only solution, and not something that's going to happen. Going rah rah for whatever Paul is on the ballot gets tiring after a while. Oh, so the GOP screws the Maine delegates, we'll get em next time. Yeah, right. Diminshing marginal returns.
And there's this, too. The US is the worst country in the world. Or Israel, ok, Israel, but our Government is the worst in the world. Given this, who in their right mind is going to want to vote for the people who are going to the worst in the world. We're the bad guys. It's like voting for Darth. Whichever Darth you're voting for, he's still going to be a Darth, and do Darth-like things. Which of these people do you want to be doing a whole bunch of things I don't want done. Which of these people will be the best at attacking other countries and killing innocent people for no reason? They all end up doing the same things. Oh, great 5 of the 50 ideas they have I like. Those 5 won't happen. I'm not talking about Rand Paul here, keep on fighting, etc etc, but, you know, I'm talking about what actually happens. Which of these 2 people in November do you want to be the worst on the planet? My choice here is a greater choice, because we attack everybody. We aren't like a normal country, who might attack a handful of neighboring countries for comprehensible reasons, but typically doesn't. No, we're the country that attacks everybody for no reason, and whether it's a D or an R - we will continue to attack more countries more often than any other country, extending our all time record of consecutive years with attacks and / or invasions.
