Looks like another good cycle coming up. Of the Senate races, there are 20 Dems up vs 13 Republicans. A lot of these Dems came into power in states they wouldn't normally have won in, but did so because of the 08 elections, which were like the 06 cycle in terms of Dem gains.

Two races already stand out to me as winners:

New Hampshire - Shaheen is a Dem who got lucky because it was 08. NH is full of pro-liberty people, many of whom have served in the State Senate (get me Forsythe!).

New Mexico - I know he said he doesn't want to "belly up to the trough", but I believe there is an ex-governor of New Mexico who would beat the pants off one-term-wonder Tom Udall.

Any other races jump out?

We need to identify Ron Paul minded state representatives and senators in every race, should they exist, and get them ready to run.

Joe Miller in Alaska and Tom Davis in South Carolina seem like our best shots. A candidate in New Hampshire would be awesome too. Shaheen hasn't raised much money.

Joe Miller in Alaska is someone the liberty movement needs to gear up to elect, as is Tom Davis to replace Lindsey Graham in South Carolina. Forsythe in New Hampshire may run. We have ranging from fantastic to decent liberty organizations in Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Dakota, perhaps candidates could emerge from there (particularly in a place like Montana or South Dakota where the 'known' quantities are more unknown to the rest of the country).

North Carolina's Kay Hagan will be defeated in 2014, by Greg Brannon who will become the next Ron Paul.

The Free State Project holds about a dozen state congressional seats, and Jim Forsythe was a state senator.

For 2014, I will in all probability be managing a campaign for US Senate. ;)

For 2016, I am likely to be running for something if I am not already having a profound impact on policy in the offices of a US Senator.

Excellent... quite Excellent.

When that happens, let the Senator know that many of us want it to be a serious felony crime to violate their oath to the Constitution.

Jim is still in the senate but that ends in December and he is not running for reelection. I doubt he will run for anything in 2014.

I am most excited by state rep and senate races in NH in 2014. I think that will be. Better year for us than 2012 because there will be more of us in NH, only the hardcore voters will vote and there will be a smaller number of elections so people will be able to focus more on the lower races. That is, if Question 3 doesn't pass in NH. If Q 3 passes, there will be a ton of addiontional candidates elected in NH.

Outside of NH, I'm interested to see if liberty people are able to make gains in local races in places like IA, NV, MN and ME. It is annoying that NH stands so head and shoulders above everywhere else in this way.

In his case, I am sure that will not be a problem. :)

We need to be able to get these guys money so they can mount an honest challenge. Can't leave them hanging like Bills. Start saving now because this isn't going to be cheap.

Definitely want to get rid of RINO Graham. Sending RINO Senators Chambliss, McConnell, Alexander, and a few others to retirement would be good too. :) The 4 names I listed don't even meet the 80% mark. They flunk in my conservative book.

I would love to oust all of them too. I would recommend focusing on Graham though. We already have the right state, environment, and candidate. Davis is going to need some serious dough though. Luckily it seems that there are national groups already looking to jump in. We just would need to start him off so he looks viable to them. After that we should concentrate on fielding liberty candidates where retirements come up.

I could definitely see Davis becoming a national Tea Party darling, in the mold of someone like Ted Cruz. That would help tremendously with funding, if Club for Growth and all those groups start pouring money into the race.

That is what I am thinking too. No one should get upset if he takes the Tea Party line like Rand did. South Carolina would be much more accepting of that. Other than that I hope Davis is squeaky clean because it is going to get dirty as he gets closer to winning. He also needs to start pretty early to build up funds and name ID.
