For the record, the fatality rate is 11.1

Being a waitress is probably more dangerous.

Bureau of Labor Statistics Released Top 10 Dangerous Jobs Report: Police Officer Not On It

http://thefreethoughtproject.com/bu...-top-10-dangerous-jobs-report-police-officer/

We are constantly reminded via politicians, television, and the mainstream media in general of just how brave those “boys in blue” are to work in such “dangerous” conditions. The thin blue line, we’re told, is akin to storming the beaches at Normandy.

But do these claims of mass danger and death hold water?

Is it really necessary to smash an elderly woman’s face into the ground, so you can “make it home to your wife and kids”?

Over the last decade police departments across the country have been steadily increasing their firepower, while their jobs have actually gotten LESS dangerous.

A report put out at the beginning of the year by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, highlights that lack of danger by showing that 2013 has had the “Lowest Level of Law Enforcement Fatalities in Six Decades” and the fewest officers killed by firearms since 1887.

The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), recorded a preliminary total of 4,405 fatal work injuries in the US in 2013. The BLS compiled that data to make a chart of the top ten most dangerous jobs. Guess who’s not in the top ten.

Fatal work injuries among law enforcement were actually down 20 percent to a new series low of 97 fatalities. So why are we seeing such a large increase in the storm trooper cops with their heavily militarized presence, and their police tanks?

It’s certainly not because there is some war going on against police or that their jobs are even that dangerous. In fact, police are quite safe as they bust through tens of thousands of doors annually enforcing the state’s immoral quest to control what you can and can’t put into your own body, otherwise known as the war on drugs.

According to a new FBI report, Americans are less violent than ever; its the police who’ve been increasingly violent.

This heavily militarized police state is unfortunately, the natural tendency of empire. No matter how peaceful the citizens resist the empire’s inevitable tyranny, the state will always resort to militarization and violence. Violence is self-preservation of the state; it is the only means the empire possesses to extend its reign.

To quote -Mahatma Gandhi- “The State represents violence in a concentrated and organized form. The individual has a soul, but as the State is a soulless machine, it can never be weaned from violence to which it owes its very existence.”

How much larger will this oppressive, expansive, and violent police state become?

That answer is entirely up to you and I. Only through a lesser ignorance and awareness will we be able to prevent this leviathan from making Orwell’s 1984, a reality.

People are already beginning to realize that those who claim the responsibility of “protecting and serving” are mostly just revenue generators for their puppet masters in higher positions of authority.

Founding father Samuel Adams says it best, “It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”

So get out there and set some bush fires! Share this article with your friends and family who haven’t quite woken up to the reality of this encroaching police state. Write your own articles, get the word out however you can! The tipping point for peace is near.

That doesn't take into account all the times that cops are threatened with bb guns, swiss army knives, pointy objects, power tools, etc...

All of these would be very dangerous, but fortunately cops are trained to very very, very quickly neutralize these threats.

Let us not forget the Holy Grail of Destruction, the Mother of All Bombs: the SIPPY-CUP!

anyone know where this police "profession" is on the list?

Oh, and don't forget about the fingernail clippers! There's MILLIONS of them in the hands of the mundane...

That's OK. They are in the bottom ten of Most Likely Things to Kill you too.

I don't think that's accurate. I guess MAYBE. if you live your life being extremely conscious about not breaking any law, not to stand out in any way and have no dogs maybe the risk goes down.

I've had this conversation I don't know how many times now on the neo con sites. They get really perturbed when I post this. I can't figure out why....:)

Thing? Are you insinuating cops are inanimate objects? Where are they on the list for most dangerous people? I bet they're ahead of firemen, dentists and cashiers. In fact, i bet they best mob hitman for murders per year.

Number 3 Pilots statistic includes bush pilots/air taxi in Alaska. Ticks off some of Airline pilots because it makes it look like pilot profession is unsafe which airlines have a pretty good record. Notice Firemen are not listed high either. I imagine Firemen and police most the time have boring jobs sitting around waiting for something to happen.

Firemen, yes. Police, no, they create their own "something".
