This report includes a partial selection of the list of pro-liberty bills, resolutions or constitutional amendments that at least passed either the New Hampshire House of Representatives or the NH Senate as of January 4th 2012. I attempted to not include duplicate bills. The bills included on this list are bills that I believe the majority of people find pro-liberty; though, I personally may not think all of the bills listed are pro-liberty.

Over 60 pro-liberty bills and 2 pro-liberty resolution passed in NH in 2011. 3 pro-liberty bills were vetoed by Governor Lynch.

This house resolution declares that the advisory opinion issued by the supreme court in response to SR 9 under New Hampshire constitution, Part II, Article 74 was incorrect and a dangerous addition to a series of decisions of the court inimical to the authority of the legislature and the right of the people to be controlled by no laws other than those to which they or their elected representatives have consented, and urging the senate to remove HB 89, a bill requiring the attorney general to join a lawsuit challenging ObamaCare, from the table and pass it.

This report includes a partial selection of the list of pro-liberty bills, resolutions or constitutional amendments that at least passed either the New Hampshire House of Representatives or the NH Senate as of October 17th 2011. I attempted to not include duplicate bills. Great news! I updated the Report with final information.

The final 2011 veto override session for the New Hampshire House happened on January 4th 2012, just before the start of the 2012 NH House session. 2 of the 3 bills voted passed and became law. The NH House voted 255 to 112 to override the governor's veto of HB542. Surprisingly, the NH House also voted to override SB57, by one vote, 248 to 123. On April 27th 2011, the NH House only originally voted for the bill by a 181 to 170 margin. Several Republicans changed their vote on SB57, as did several Manchester Democrats.

Still don’t like car inspections. Had them in NC when I was in the Corps. They were a major pain in the a$$ for the poor PFCs with less than stellar cars.

I do not understand what you mean by the oath of office stuff? I also do not understand how it will change things. Has it been tried in a state yet? What were the results?

I don't like auto inspections for personal vehicles, either. If it were up to me, they would be done. Apparently, there are two parts, the safety inspection and the emissions inspection. The emissions inspection is only done on modern autos in NH and it is done to satisfy federal law. Every state is supposed to do certain things to satisfy federal pollution laws. The states have options on what to do. Some states to emissions tests on most autos. Some states do emissions tests in the most urban areas. Some states don't do emissions tests, instead, they do other things.

Unfortunately, when I testified at the hearing in the Senate, most of the people testifying were people that owned auto repair shops. All of them said stuff like their customers never complain about inspections, there will be lots of dead cars all over the roads like in FL and so on. Of course, for business reasons, they were all opposed to stopping the forced inspections. It was very annoying.

HB146 is special. It was held in the New Hampshire Senate. The Senate finally voted for the bill 15 - 9 this year. It now has to go back to the New Hampshire House (because the Senate slightly amended it.) It already passed the NH House and has the support of the Speaker of the House. I contacted a person with the Ron Paul campaign that is a State Rep. in New Hampshire to check the progress of the bill in the New Hampshire House. The government changed the hyperlink because it is now a 2012 bill.

This bill eventually passed the NH Senate in an amended form this year. The House and Senate are trying to work out their differences and pass something.

On 3/22/12, NH Attorney General Michael A. Delaney finally admitted that the practice of arresting people for recording the police is illegal. The NH AG even said, "If a person engaging in such recording activity is arrested, the arresting officer could be subject to liability for his or her actions."

Needless to say, at least one free stater is taking a policeman in NH to federal court for rights violations. I don't know what is going to happen with HB 145 but it nice to see that the NH AG finally admitted that yes, NH police are violating the law and are subject to liability for their violations of the law.

A 2011 law has allowed Earth Eagle Brewings to open its doors in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Brewers Butch Heilshorn and Alex McDonald opened their new tasting room to rave reviews from the beer aficionados that lined up to sample their specialty beers on tap last Saturday. The New Hampshire law that made their business venture possible allows small breweries to sell their high quality beers in boutique quantities to the general public.

The November 17 opening brought a packed house to the cozy tasting room on High Street in downtown Portsmouth. Tasters were treated to three delicious gruits, which are old world style beers brewed with herbs and spices and without hops. Gruits are becoming more popular among some beer connoisseurs that may be seeking refuge from the huge hop IPA craze that has been in vogue for several years. Other offerings included an IPA made with Citra hops, a pumpkin porter, and a red ale made with thirty percent rye malts. There was plenty of beer variety that lead to interesting conversations among the beer consumers that flocked to the event.

The beer variety continued at the tasting room this week with the release of a delicious Imperial IPA, a rasberry cream stout, and a beer made with a tree fungus called chaga, which is known to be an aphrodisiac. Based on the excellent response so far, there is apparently no shortage of demand for specialty beer in New Hampshire.

Earth Eagle Brewings is licensed by the State of New Hampshire as a Nano-Brewery, which means it can sell its beer to the public at retail outlets and must not exceed two thousand barrels per year. The emerging nano-brewery trend has been made possible by an enlightened piece of legislation that went into effect on July 1, 2011. The new law dramatically lowers the licensing fee for small breweries and makes it possible for very small breweries to compete with bigger businesses. Since the law was enacted, there has been an explosion of interest from entrepreneurs who now have an opportunity to do business in New Hampshire.
