2008 vs 2012

If you have time to donate to the campaign, then why not do what the campaign asks?
Because the campaign is not always right. Because a man only lives once, and he and he alone should decide how to spend it. I trust my own judgment and reason.

Not really understanding all this bickering...we're looking pretty good but there is far to go....we've got to stay on point and keep up this momentum...focus...keep putting yourselves out there...let's win this thing...

...for liberty!

Campaign or grassroots, doesn't matter, just do something. Last week I bought the voter registration list (25.00), ordered 1000 super flyers, and will flood the houses (along with a friend) in town with these.

Yes, but to discount 2008's efforts forgets that it brought his name recognition up and helped bring his book deals which play a huge role now.

Do whatever you want now (Joe in IL certainly does). But disrespecting 2008 means one is disrespecting thousands of hard working people and I won't tolerate that rudeness.

Completely agree. We busted our asses in 07-08 (and beyond, in the form of grassroots postmortems) and that laid the groundwork for Paul's success today.

That's awesome. Targeting is the way we can achieve victory. You may want to check with a local office though to make sure you are not duplicating someone else's efforts.

Yup, checked with the campaign, they are getting yard signs and donation envelopes for me. Will start the flood on Monday.

I agree with you walt, also pacelli, and anti fed. I like his tag for us as shock troops. The campaign would be no where today if we hadn't set up the foundation, but I gotta hand it to this next generation of paulites, they are making it happen.

Many of the actions of the 2008 campaign were idiotic, and at some things they were completely asleep at the wheel. All the grassroots things done in 2008 were a defense against a campaign that was failing us. 2012 is looking much more professional.

Ron message was always "mainstream." The media and establisment elites did what they could to deingrate it, distort it, and marginalize it...however, in '08, the campaign didn't do a good enough job getting the message out directly to the voters. The campaign organization was built very late in the cycle and they made hundreds of mistakes...Ron even, still now, isn't doing the best he could be at getting the message out. Anyway, without 2008, Ron would be a Santorum-type candidate and the marginalization would be that much easier to get away with...the 08 campaign and the grassroots, broke into the gop, softened them up for what is coming in 2012...the only problem is that I don't see the money coming in big within each quarter. Sure Ron is out-raising his 07 totals, but that 19 million in 2007-Q4 was unprecedented and has yet to be matched...Ron needs at least 15 million this quarter to mount the campaign necessary to WIN and compete in ALL the large primaries states that take an army of people to win...

Going to be tough to match in this economy, but I'm hopeful. Even still, consider this: McCain raised just 10 million in 4Q 2007 and won the nomination. He didn't have a massive grassroots army behind him.

"The good news is the country has changed in the last four years in a way I never would have believed," Paul told about 80 Republicans and independents at the Pizza Ranch restaurant in this town on Friday. "In the last four years, something dramatic has happened."

He wasn't referring to the way HQ is operating; it was a reference to a cultural awakening.

If you truly believe Ron's message was mainstream 4 years ago, you're out of touch.
