Marches in DC are for the most part a total WOT if you are looking to do more than make a statement. The media totally blacks out whatever they want. Yesterday's march was, sadly, almost a total blackout.
There were anti Iraq war protests under Bush that drew in over 200,000 and were almost totally blacked out.

That is incredible because I like to think I'm up on this stuff and I never heard of a 200k+ march on the White House over the Iraq war.
I suppose I've gathered some alternate news sources since then however..

We didn't get enough attention. Ron Paul owns the military support and any credible news outlet should have covered it. If there was some date or holiday that related to Evangelical Christians there is no doubt they would have covered Santorum's every move. The establishment KNOWS that Ron Paul gets the msot support from the military yet they ignored it deliberately. It runs counter to the drums of war they have been beating.
I'm not being negative, just I don't think many Rep voters get their news from any of those sources. Kudos to those who participated tho.

Here's what should have happened. Once those 2,000 vets marched to D.C. they should have fanned out to 200 phone banking centers (10 vets each). Then they should have all made calls to key states with the following script:
Vet Caller: Hello. I'm a Veteran from the Iraq/Afghanistan/Vietnam/Grenada/Fill-in-the-blank war. I'm wondering if you would mind listening to this short message about how you can show your support for the troops?
Potential Voter: Why sure. (What else are they going to say)
Message: Hello. This is Dr. Ron Paul. I was a veteran in Vietnam. I'm running for president in part because I feel for our veterans and the pain and suffering they are going through. Because of that I have more donations from active military than any other candidate and all the republican candidates combined. Veterans are volunteering for me in record numbers like the young man or woman you just spoke to. After the attacks of 9/11 I voted for what was billed to be a quick operation to destroy Al Qaeda and capture those responsible. I then offered legislation, that was never passed, to issue letters of Marque and Reprisal which would have given constitutional authority to go after Osama Bin Laden anywhere in the world. Instead OBL was allowed to escape through mismanagement as our nation turned its military might against a target that had nothing to do with 9/11. Now the war drums are being beaten for Iran. This is an unnecessary war that will not enhance our security or the security of any of our allies. In fact two former heads of the Israeli intelligence service, the Mossad, said that an attack on Iran would actually go against Israel's interest. Admiral Fallon resigned over his opposition to a conflict with Iran. One of my opponents, Rick Santorum, said at a campaign stop that he didn't even believe that Iran wanted a nuclear weapon to attack Israel but for their own protection. So why is our nation pushing a confrontation that some of our military leaders don't want, our rank and file military men and women don't want, our sometimes allies, and fellow nuclear club members China and Russia are against and an action that could cost you $10.00 per gallon at the pump? It's because when the economy is bad, governments tend to scapegoat enemies foreign and domestic rather than facing the pain of putting their own economic house in order. If you are willing to listen to what our brave soldiers, sailors and airmen have to say about where this nation should go with regards to foreign policy please stay on the line."

It's still a viable idea..."did you happen to see me along with 1999 others in the March on the White House yesterday?" etc., even family members could chime in: "I'm the wife of a Vietnam Vet and we are voting for Ron Paul,"......etc...........

The campaign recently said they needed 5 million dollars. They were able to raise maybe 2 million. So, I'm thinking that any money that would be spent on a march would be better placed with the campaign.
I don't believe the march is a waste of time. It made a statement and there is a compilation of footage of the march that I can use as evidence to show immense vet's support for Ron Paul. Pictures and videos are very powerful. When words cannot convince, videos and photos are very helpful. If there is no march, there is no video footage. I praise and thank the organizers of the Veterans for Ron Paul March as well as the enthusiasm and spirit of all the veterans who participate and the support of their families.

Since I can't tell others how to spend their money I'm not going to do so.
Example: "What!!?!?!? You bought a gift for your wife on Valentine's Day? That money could have gone to the campaign!"
