I'm usually against banning people but I'd be fine if knickers bot was banned. I'd be shocked if even a single person here disagreed

The "Ignore" button works really well. The problem arises when other posters quote him, and then you get one of those "You are ignoring content by this member. Show ignored content" notices, which is kinda like seeing his lips moving but not hearing any sound. But having someone respond right after that is a bit like having a sign-language interpreter (you can sometimes figure out what the sign language interpreter is trying to tell you about the ignored post).

The scroll-wheel on my mouse is my "Ignore" button.

Whenever I see any post by some User X whom I would otherwise add to my (actually empty) "Ignore" list - as well as (usually) any post by someone else containing a quote-box labelled "User X said" - I just scroll right on by.

As a result, given the levels of "reply guy"-ism that certain Users X seem to elicit, I sometimes end up skipping large chunks of threads (or even entire pages, when the "reply guys" are all abuzz) - but I doubt I miss much that is worth not missing.

When someone persists in posting rambling and/or incoherent bafflegab, and others persist in replying to said bafflegab with the same repetitive & predictable responses, then it isn't just the former who comes across as having been "programmed". It's almost Pavlovian.
