17% of Maine not to be counted?

Jack Hunter said over 95% has been counted but Ron Paul`s win is in that 5%
With 95% reporting, Ron Paul has over 36% of the vote in Maine right behind first place finisher Mitt Romney, who has barely 39%.

But when all the votes are counted will Romney still be in first place? Only 194 votes stand between Paul and a first place victory. Washington County is a stronghold for Paul and has yet to report. It might be a week before we know the final outcome there and Washington County is expected to yield 200 votes or more.

Don't assume anything unless you know...

If they don't count votes, what would prevent them from not counting delegates?
Because the presidential preference poll was stated from the beginning to occur from Feb 4 - 11. They're not changing anything. They warned all the county GOP groups ahead of time that the presidential preference straw poll was Feb 4 - 11. Some local GOP groups chose to hold theirs later.

The only quibble is Washington County, who moved their caucus out of the range.

Exactly. Everyone knew there were counties that were conducting caucuses AFTER February 11. The Maine GOP posted their schedule in January and even explained that some counties chose not to participate in the straw poll. Why are we arguing about it after the fact? It's like Rick Perry arguing that Virginia's signature laws are too stringent AFTER he couldn't gather enough signatures to get on the ballot.

The only caucus we have a legitimate argument with is Washington County who was suppose to participate in the straw poll.

This this this!!!
Stop emailing this guy. the rules were well known for a while. you guys are just making us look bad by being uninformed.

Look, i was really pissed about this whole thing last night but honestly i am more pissed at the campaign and the GOP voters in general. The maine GOP went by the rules as they said they would for a while. (They might have even been the same in 08 also) Except for that one caucus in the northeast. i think even they said they were going to postpone results until they realized that the one caucus wasn't going to change the straw poll results. Sure, that room was filled with establishment hacks that did not want us to win. But to say that not counting the last 17% in the strawpoll was a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to how the Maine Caucus works just shows that you don't know how their process works.

So does the 17% of precincts not reporting include only Wash County, or also those that weren't going to be counted anyway? It's important to get the details correct.

This is a lesson in political gambles. The state chairman knows what he did has weakened his local political future. 1/3 of the party base in Maine no longer trusts him. But .... he has upped his odds of getting a spot in a Romney administration.

1/3? Where did you get that random number? The areas outside of Washington County knew what they were getting into by scheduling their caucuses when they did. I think you may be taking this too personally and ignoring the facts.

This is the GRASSROOTS TIPPING POINT for RP 2012 MOMENTUM!

Could Ron Paul Still Win Maine?

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/12/could-ron-paul-still-win-maine/

"Ron Paul’s campaign is claiming that it could still win the presidential preference poll in the Maine caucus because of a county that postponed its vote and will hold its caucus next Saturday, Feb. 18."

"A more likely scenario, perhaps, is that Mr. Paul ['s VOLUNTEER GRASSROOTS MACHINE] would work to turn out his supporters while the other campaigns would not. "

"If Mr. Paul were somehow to secure the 194-vote margin, that would create a messy scenario for the Maine G.O.P."

"A handful of Maine towns outside of Washington County have also not yet held caucuses. In those cases, however, the caucuses were scheduled for after Feb. 11 all along. Only 45 votes were cast in these towns in 2008,"

"Washington County might theoretically have some untapped potential for Mr. Paul. It is rural and relatively poor"

YOU HAVE FIVE DAYS!

NATIONAL RP GRASSROOTS TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO WASHINGTON CO MAINE!

Washington county, on the eastern most tip of the continental US, a rural county where folks were used to toughing it through bitter winters with little money, became the turning point in the defence of the Constitution, when after having been denied the LIBERTY to go out and vote because "the party" was concerned for their SAFETY in a snowstorm, voters stood up to be heard...

Tell the tale!

dirigo,

I agree... we are a repulic, and many people fought and died to make that a reality. Some people are throwing it away in favor of mob rule....

Republic - rule of law.

Democracy - majority rules/minority loses.

Actually, Democracy is minority rule; majority screwed. Five to ten percent of the population decide for the rest of us.
