It's working for McCain.

On that note, I think I'll join the "Write in Ron!" crowd. Out of options as far as the presidency goes...
They won't even display Ron's write in votes. You will be silenced in your opinion.
Take that in consideration when you write his name in...
Not saying its a bad thing, but the story in november will be, did the GOP dissing the Ron Paul revolution cost McCain the election. And they will look at the numbers....
Yours won't be in that discussion. Bob Barr and Baldwin will be...
When McCain loses the election, it'll attributed to that guy CNN is anointing even as I type.
That said, Barr's previous positions on certain issues are little too much to tolerate. I don't see how anyone could even cast a protest vote for him.
So- we don't look at what you are doing now, but judge you from this day forward for everything you've done wrong in the past?
I wasn't a Barr fan. I was a Ruwart/Kubby fan... I still can't say what is in Barr's mind, but I do know he has surrounded himself with long time libertarians I trust.
I've actually read the stuff Bradley has posted and it dispels the "opinions" that he is some kind of infiltrator.
yeah, just keep whining people. the great fallacy of the LP purists. Let's observe our options:
Baldwin and the CP: a minor political party and a political unknown
Barr and the LP: THE thirdparty and a man that has been garnering media attention. polls put him at 6-7%
gheeze. All you people do is whine and then wonder why we never accomplish anything. I backed RP (still do) even when I disagreed on many things. You never saw me whine about the newsletters on here.
The LP needs to become the #3 political party in the USA. Then we'll have more options. If the LP EVER becomes as corrupt as the GOP/DP, then we launch a new party. The more parties the BETTER for everyone.
Do you really think I'm a moderate? I'm as purist as any, but I'm also a pragmatist and I think it's time to msake my vote count for something.
Bob Barr has had his chance to build an honorable voting record and he chose to fight the War on Drugs and endorse the Pat Act. I don't care what he says now, I don't trust him!
I was actually considering changing to the Lib Party...Not now!
I understand his votes for the Patriot Act and his support for the War on Drugs but he has claimed to have changed his stance since then. Like Alex said, He's no Ron Paul, but who is? I trust Barr far more than I trust Obama or McCain, thats for damn sure. I will support Barr/Root this fall. Currently he is the most viable candidate out there. CP is too socially conservative and has even less ballot access than the LP.
Neither guiliani or thompson even approach the libertarian platform whereas at least barr is generally speaking like one.

If McCain comes out for the gold standard are you going to vote for him because he claimed to have seen the golden light? Barr was willing to say or do anything just to have a chance to pick up some of the Ron Paul spotlight. The problem is the spotlight is fixated on the star (Ron Paul). Ron puts his money where his mouth is. He doesn't claim to have "changed". His votes back up his politics. Barr is like every other politician, votes don't match the words coming from their mouth.
There is only one candidate!
RON PAUL
See what im hearing from a lot of libertarians is distaste for people who arent pure libertarians. I guess you have to agree with every party line to be worthy of the nomination. No wonder the party doesnt get a significant number of votes. This country will never have a utopian libertarian society, so I think its time to accept that the best option is someone who will help make the party more mainstream and vote for that. This isnt going to happen in one or two elections, but hopefully in several the libertarian party can gain a foothold and compete to reduce the scope and size of government.I've been around the block a few times. Fact is that many people over the years have run as Libertarians yet were nothing close to being libertarian. And as soon as the campaign started in earnest, most of them reverted to their statist message and badmouthed the party.
You can book this. Come back to this post when it happens. Bob Barr will actively work to denigrate his own participation in the Libertarian Party. He will either do it prior to the election, or he will do it immediately following the election. And libertarians are so desperate for any validation that they won't even realize they've been had.
Barr is still wanting to to fight the drug war. Doesn't anyone have a problem with that? Seriously? How much less libertarian could he possibly be? Maturity? Working with those we disagree with? Broadening the base of the party?
Face it. As of yesterday, the Libertarian party is a full fledged subsidiary of the Republican Party. And that's just the start. Pretty soon there will likely be a neocon caucus of the Libertarian Party. And a Nanny State Caucus.
Barr is full of it. And he'll prove it over and over if you just listen.
