10 Corporations Control Nearly Everything You Buy ...

They make products people want to buy.

I was going to post that but figured it would be lost on the crowd around here.

That could be slightly better phrased. Corporations create products and services that people neither want nor need. Sales is about creating wants and needs where none exist in order to sell useless and worthless products at the highest price possible.

You can't survive without Obamacare.

You cant survive without a Car.

You can't survive without Car Insurance.

You can't survive without this super expensive Magical Drug, alternatives be damned.

You can't survive without Gasoline.

You can't survive without Govt Regulation of the Food Industry. Although Irradiating and Poisoning your food is A-Okay.

You can't survive without Govt to protect you from Terrorists and Communists.

You can't survive without Laws that make Marijuana illegal.

You can't survive without SWAT Teams to defend you against heavily armed Drug Dealers or Vicious Dogs at Large.

You can't survive without Banks to safeguard your Money.

You can't learn without a Govt Accredited Official to teach you to be Obedent.

You can't survive without a Bullet Proof Backpack when you go to your Indoctrination Center for Obedie... *ahem* School.

You cant survive without MY flavor of Morality that I label both the Law and Religion, depending on context.

You can't survive if you are allowed Freedom of Speech, Privacy, or the Freedom to Own a Gun.

You can't survive if you don't pay your taxes.

You need us.

---

Those are their messages to us. The truth is, they need us but we do not need them. In Greek, the word POLY means Many. And a Tick is a blood-sucking parasite that survives on that which you do need to survive. And Poly-Ticks, or Politics is a perfect word if I've ever heard one. Govt, Banks and Corporations are Parasites. They no longer contribute to making a society that is better and more capable. They are dedicated to shaping society to their will where the People are completely and hopelessly dependant on all of them to maintain their way of life. They hold the very things we need to create a better society for hostage. The Elephant in the Room is RESPONSIBILITY. They deprive you of your ability to take Responsibility for the day to day actions in your life. You should not be allowed to change the oil in your own car, or even fuel it. They deprive you of your ability to work. You cant hire him, he is a Tax Fraud and has been Unemployed for 2+ years! They deprive you of being able to think for yourself and drawing your own conclusions. After all, awareness that they are a Parasite is one of their greatest tools to use against you. If you can not take Repsonsibility for yourself to own a Gun and to NOT harm the Innocent with it, then their point of view is to deprive you of your ability to be Responsible for yourself. Why? An Armed Aware Populus is grounds for an Uprising that they will not survive. They believe you should be deprived of your Responsibility to not scream Fire! (or Terrorist!) in a crowded area where there is none. They deprive you of your Responsibility so that you do not dare speak out against them. They deprive you of your Responsibility to have Privacy by showing others the Respect for their Rights and monitor you constantly. They do this not to protect either you or your victim, but to protect themselves. They know how to take you down in the most effective way possible: when you are alone and most vunerable.

Corporations are Atlas. And they constantly threaten the entire Govt with Shrugging to control them. They control the Elected Officials with the Chains of Dependancy. The Ends of the Chains of Dependancy are hung around the necks of the people, but we are still tied to the same Owners. Corporations make Govts dependant on them to survive, and Govt makes its people dependant on the Govt to survive. Welfare, Food Stamps, the Illusion of Protection, Freedom from Responsibility, and the utter Fear of Freedom itself.

Those in power will never voluntarily relenquish that power.

And that power comes from Misplaced Values. You need us. Fear your Freedoms. Fear Responsibility. Fear being Uninsured or being Unemployed. Fear that we do not turn our gaze to you and cause you to become either Uninsured or Unemployed. You need us for everything that enables you to survive. And if you do try to provide for yourself, we will turn our gaze to you, and deprive you of the ability to provide for yourself through Violence against you. You will not beat us in a Court of Law because Law has nothing to do with Justice. We own the Courts, and those that WRITE the Laws so the Law is no defense for you. We are better than you. You are better off being enslaved to our will, even if the consequences of our will deprive you of everything, including your Life. You need to believe that without us you will not survive, because we made the world that way.

When we recognize that we do NOT need them, we only need US, they know their Power will not survive.

---

Its not about not preaching to the choir, it is about talking about our problems so that others that still have not woken up yet understand the dangers of a Facist Govt ruled by Mega Banks and Mega Corporations.

Perhaps the government should decide how big a company can get to be?

LOL! Government takes their marching orders from the Big Corps. That's why competition is null and void in this society--and I mean small mom and pops have no chance.

Yep. Annoys me that people say that all of the time. They always say something about letting government call the shots and it's an argument that doesn't even work initsface. We need to help people remember that government is a process which functions representative of, by and for the people. It's their platform and process for representation. That's what government is. When we have these corporations...many of which are multi-national and assuming our identity as the people and soliciting/penning legislation then these entities become government. Which is exactly what we have happening now. It's a simple corporate repatriation and there is this foolish illusion that it's a free market concept but in it's current form it's a basic merge of corporation and state. A glorified hijacking of the means for people to govern themselves. And again, it's a contradiction of growth and survival. Two different kinds of people here. One is legit...the other is not. It's just grows. And it sucks the life out of the natural citizen.

So, less government in this language means less of you and more of, by and for them....as if they're even people anyhow. They're not. But that's another step in the climb.

Less government means less of you having say so.

Ha ha ha ha! And yet new businesses succeed every day.

One of the easiest ways to eliminate your competition is to make competition illegal. Yeah, thats called a Monopoly, and Corporations arent held to the rules of the Constitution because our Govt also refuses to obey it.

The word "control" in the OP title is used loosely. The better title would be "these 10 companies own more than you think"... there really is no news here, and it's not a conspiracy. If anything, it's a lesson in branding and corporate holdings.

Who funded the financing of the takeovers? So, correctly, it would be not NECESSARILY a conspiracy. But, given what is known about fiat currency, and the current financial bubbles, more likely than not, this reality was NOT due to free market, voluntarism, and non aggression.

Apple,Google,Microsoft,Facebook,Twitter,Wendy's,Walmart,McDonalds,BurgerKing,Kmart,Ruger...Tired of typing.

Just to mention several Mega-Corps that didn't exist or were "Mom&Pop" operations when I was born.
How did that happen?

Maybe spend your time focusing on educatin customers instead of screaming about the "evil" corporations. The American people love those corporations. They'll even buy t-shirts that advertise many of those corporations in that infographic.

I'm talking about the mindset of American consumer. Freedom of choice is now an advertising mantra rather than something Patrick Henry said.

Yep. Cripes, we have our representatives standing around for photo-ops like a glorified pop-up ad and belching on super big gulps instead of giving half a shit about the important elements of the debate. Is pathetic.

And, oh yes...the people do love them for it. Seem to be the only ones dictating the terms in lala land too.

Apple was once a struggling startup going up against Big Business like IBM who ruled the computer market at the time.

A&P was once considered to practically have a monopoly on the American food business.

Once a company gets in bed with the government to gain an advantage over their competitor we have crony capitalism. There is only the appearance of a free market but most of us have never really experienced a truly free market in our lifetimes.

So now you've gone from insisting that corporations sell things that people don't want to frantically mocking people who don't share the same "important" values that you do?

Right but the only difference between lucky charms and "charms of luck" is the outside box. The factory floors remove one label and pop a new one in. Its the exact same product and even though you buy the cheap one its likely either sold to the "off-brand" made by the big boys or is just a subsidiary of the big boys.

I can't speak to that specific product, but it is a fact that in some cases national brand manufacturers also produce "private label" products. Here it is, straight from the horse's mouth, the Private Label Manufacturer's Association web page:

Manufacturers of store brand products fall into four general classifications:
They are large national brand manufacturers that utilize their expertise and excess plant capacity to supply store brands.
• They are small, quality manufacturers that specialize in particular product lines and concentrate on producing store brands almost exclusively. Often these companies are owned by corporations that also produce national brands.
• They are major retailers and wholesalers that own their own manufacturing facilities and provide store brand products for themselves.
• And they are also regional brand manufacturers that produce private label products for specific markets.

I did not realize that stuff went on until I encountered it with products we used in equipment we built in my former life as an engineer for a heavy equipment manufacturer. For example, a manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders sold their product under various names....same cylinder made by the same company but with a different name plate on it.

All part of the game of marketing.

They are not making the same products and selling them under generic labels. Excess plant capacity is not the the same as excess inventory. They might own multiple plants, or even use the same plants, but not the same recipes or quality standards.

Read it again - the same corporations might own the manufacturer that makes generics, but the same plant isn't producing the exact same product to be labeled differently.

Nowhere in that blurb do they say that the products are identical to the products sold under the major label. Because it doesn't happen.
