It's a hardcore problem because the U.S. government is running an operation where 33% of women are assaulted. That's not okay. I would rather the Presidential debates be focused on this than cutting a couple hundred million dollars from PBS. Additionally, it's not as if this has ended as we're still in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, this is something of a red herring issue if it is spun a certain way. People will come out against women serving in the military and that is ridiculous. We spend so much time debating who should be allowed to fight wars and so little time actually debating whether we should be fighting wars in the first place.

A feminine woman has no business in it. A butch dyke that can hold her own though is a different thing.

This is how we treat everyone equally even though nature does not offer such a treatment.

Having spent the past six years in the Air Force, I find this article very hard to believe. Sexual assault happened, without a doubt, but not to that extent. It's no secret that the Army/Marines have more violent crime though, so I'm sure my opinion might be biased.

And to fr33, it's okay if you don't understand why. Some people feel the call to serve, others don't.

Do we emasculate the male soldiers?

Do we restrict "pretty" women from combat duty?

"War" effects people differently and the heat of battle often causes people to behave in a manner not indicative of their "normal" demeanor...Who's accountable then?

The only logical solution to the problem I can see is to get the fuck out of undeclared/unconstitutional wars.

This would of course be pulling an ostrich in regards to "sexual assault" but it would certainly eliminate all "heat of battle" behavior.

I'm sorry but anyone that can look back over the last 10 years, and how our military is being used, and still enlist doesn't get an ounce of support from me. Our military isn't an honorable force for the preservation of our nation any longer, it's the security for murderous bastards that care not for the spilling of our children's blood.

So what you are saying is that the 'rank and file' types are either completely oblivious to what military leaders and politicians have been doing, or they are too stupid to look beyond the money being thrown at them. Sorry, I don't buy that at all.

When did they bring back the draft? Last time I checked, American military personnel have been VOLUNTEERING their services since the 1970s.

Actually I have more than a few ex/members of the military in my family and friends. They feel the same as me.
