Russia Banned from 2018 Winter Olympics

Just watched the documentary Icarus which is mostly about the main Russian guy responsible for the doping, and it is fantastic.

American Gold Buffalo Sales Probably Lowest Mintage Ever in 2017

Could have something to do with bitcoin looking so much better than gold? You buy gold to preserve wealth for decades/centuries. You don't buy it because it gains interest, or have any meaningful appreciation, or to use as a means of exchange.

The Number Of Americans That Can’t Afford Their Own Homes Has More Than Doubled

Uhhh, could it be that government is the reason for supply not rising? I take it you've never built anything brick and morter. After each time I have I come away with the feeling that it's not worth it. This is anecdotal, but my last project, my business buildout moving into a new space, it...

Bezos to start selling Amazon stock

Please do tell. I figure the government gets about 60% of what I produce - and jail is the alternative.

Bezos to start selling Amazon stock

He must not be expecting amazon stock to go up very fast from here on out. If he were, he would take out loans at maybe 5% that are backed by his stock as collateral. I believe that is how Paul Allen (of Microsoft fortunes) has had spending money, without working for decades, and without...

Widow of Joe Biden's late son Beau now dating his brother

I think that might even be biblical - from old testament law. And then don't the kids from the new marriage carry on the dead guy's legacy?

    Thinking about betting against Japan

Sooo, I didn't look too closely at the 3x inverse bond ETF that I linked to in the first post... but apparently it kind of disappeared/was delisted last fall (I can't really find info about what happened to it). Also, it was/is run by Deutsche Bank which will probably either go the way of Bear...

    Thinking about betting against Japan

I think it may be time to start betting against Japan. From what I've read, some big hedge funds have been doing this for years, and have been losing money; but maybe not because they're wrong, but too early. What is the best way to go about this? I was thinking of something like buying an...

Nearly 7 in 10 Americans have less than $1,000 in savings

Yep. There is a reason why all those people are in the snaking line at the wal-mart "bank." They CAN'T bank at a real bank.

Nearly 7 in 10 Americans have less than $1,000 in savings

No. People don't save. People don't have savings at home except for some people who are here from other countries who have learned from experience to not trust banks.

Marc Faber: Tesla shares are going to $0

I'm on the fence here. It looks like the company should be on it's way to bankruptcy (or bailout). They are burning through cash at an impressive rate. But with a Steve Jobs type forward thinking hard charging front man, they could also win big.

    Profits are no longer important.

Future profit is what it's all about. Plowing money back into the business wipes out profit, but usually means higher future profit. Taking profit now means less investing for future profit. Growing revenue usually means a growing business and more likely higher future profit.
