I can't imagine that a pick like Harris goes over well with the far-left that are gung-ho on defunding the police and so on. Whether this energizes their base or whether Harris has a knockout debate performance against Pence, I don't know, but given how Harris didn't even win her own state...

As has been mentioned, he endorsed Clinton as well. I'd wager that Trump probably isn't souring over not getting an endorsement from someone who was part of the Bush administration. Heck, he might even wear that as a badge of honor.
