After 8 years, will we stop the lies about polls

It's not that polls are inherrently always wrong, it's the gerrymandering of which ones are given attention or used as criteria. Things like poritizing polls over actual voting results when it benefits a slate of candidates, or vise versa. Or using polls to narrow down the field ahead of time...

New Hampshire - Rand election Results

He sent out a bunch of mailers guilt shaming people who don't vote. Disguised as official state mail citing violations. With like a list of your and your neighbors names and their lapsed voting history on it. I recieved one, and wasn't sure whether to feel disgusted, or amused, because I never...

    Rand pulled out too early

Because they only accept the top 3 from Iowa, and the rest are based on NH and national polling averages. Yes they are prioritizing polls over primary voting results. Carly didn't make the cut, and is arguing everyone who won at least 1 delegate deserves to be included, but they haven't...

WAPO: 7 things learned covering Rand Paul’s campaign and movement

I think he is right about #6, and #7, but I disagree with the conclusion that there is/was never any overlap. A lot of those voters were indeed not libertarians. There did seem to be a Buchanon segment on the right that supported Ron in the past, and I suppose they found a candidate they liked...

Does Rand need to change for the next go around (2020) or was this just not his time?

There are a variety of reasons.... But while libertarians are blaming Rand for being too this or that, neoconservatives are busy citing ISIS and feeling vindicated right now. If this foriegn policy keeps up the current trajectory, attacks are probably going to become more frequent not less. How...

    Libertarianism and Conservatism Antithetical?

I generally like Tom Mullen, and agree with a lot of what he has to say here... But, What is he proposing exactly? Should libertarians focus on third parties? Join the Democratic party? Or should Rand (and other libertarian leaning Republicans) abandon the "constitutional conservative" label...

The real reason Rand lost Iowa (the power of the news cycle)

His team seems to have made the miscalculation that Jeb made, that Trump mania would fade out long before Iowa and voters would "get serious" looking for an electable alternative. But the appeal of Trump, Cruz, and Carson was underestimated. Voters did eventually start looking for an alternative...

Rand Paul in Retrospect - Justin Raimondo

I agree with what McCarthy said about going after establishment voters, who just want a respectable and electable candidate. I personally found in 2012 it was more the Romney supporters who were open to new ideas. Much more so than movement conservatives supporting Santorum, Bachmann, Huckabee...

    So what happens to RPF

It's really not just this place, old fashioned discussion forums like this one seem to be turning into ghost towns everywhere I go online, as social media has taken over the role discussion forums used to have for a lot of people.... I've been following RP and Rand for years, and rarely post...

Who will you support after Rand's campaign suspension?

I'd say it has a lot to do with the reinvigoration of the war on terror, ISIS, recent mass shootings, etc. I would be surprised if even Ron himself would have gotten as much attention as he did in 2012, in this climate. Which is sad. It's like the country has slid back into early 2000s post 9/11...

Who will you support after Rand's campaign suspension?

Well, I'm sad I won't have the chance to vote for Rand now in NH, but it isn't surprising, and I would much rather see him continue on in the Senate where he actually makes a difference. I don't for a second believe Trump and Cruz really believe half the outrageous crap they say, they are...

Rand Paul super pac speaks out on Iowa caucus and moving on to NH

I think he is very right about that. This was seen in the tea party days, with the socon and populist/reactionary wings of the movement. Rand was up against a lot of competition for those demographics, with almost every candidate save Bush and Hillary claiming to be anti establishment. Not to...

    OpinionSavvy Iowa poll 1/29-1/30 - Rand 8.6%

There are some, I've seen around town. They must have focused just in specific areas. The most I've seen is Kasich, and I've received a LOT of mailers from Jeb, and have had visits from both Ted and Jeb canvassers.

    If Trump wins Iowa...

Yes. Not necessarily always the case, since it's not enough to just win Iowa and then underperform in NH, but Trump is polling well there too. To be honest I think there were just too many unfortunate current events leading up to this election cycle. Republicans are really whipped up with fear...
