Nov. 5th wasn't my intended point, just an example. For better or worse, it's going to be a big day. Personally, I suspect the facebook attack will be such a colossal failure that it won't even be mentioned, let alone tied to RP. In any case, banning people won't stop a Nov 5th MB, but what are the unintended consequences? How many GOOD ideas will those people not share, or how many times will they NOT be inspired to do something by what someone else posted here? I'm not familiar with the two people in this incident, maybe they're just trolls, but that's not the point. Some older threads might have 20% of posters banned. The sheer number of bans troubles me. Unmoderated forums have a lot of stupidity. But they also have a lot of brilliance, sometimes from the same people. I figure reasoning with people is the best option, or maybe a two day ban for cooling off. It's the longer term bans that I'm concerned about because it's impossible to know what will never happen.
