Legos!

Growing up in the USSR until I was 11, I was the only kid on the block who had them, along with some other electronics and games sent in by relatives from the West. Made me pretty popular.

Man, it's impossible to describe what it's like growing up in a communist / post-communist collapsing superpower in the 1980s. It was a unique era in history...

My favoried toy when I was a kid.

My Mattel Fanner Shootin Shell cap pistol and holster set.

It actually shot plastic bullets and had Greenie Stickem caps you could put on the back of each cartridge so it would make a noise when you fired them.

Now you can buy one for around USD $849 plus S&H. Sure wish I still had mine.

Just about anything cool! I had something similar as a kid. After I was moved away from my stump, I spent a couple hours making a type of electronic organ that I disassembled within 10 minutes.

It's a fully functional integrated electronics lab!
You can pretty much create anything, schematics, breadboarding, circuitry, etc...

I used mine with a massive antenna for ham radio... I also made an alarm for my room.
