You Guys Aren't Canvassing In Revolutionary War Uniforms and Such, Are You?

I know how much that uniform means, and what it symbolizes to US, but regular sheep in our target demographic will most likely be turned away by that. To most people, especially ones who aren't even familiar with a US policy like the founding fathers, that just appears "weird".

We will do the best if we just dress like regular Americans.

I've been to a few rallies, and while I completely understand the uniform and the tri-corner hats, to me, it just seems like it turns people off that aren't already involved in this thing.

We should be out there wearing mainstream clothes, looking like any other average American citizen. We're going to get the best response from people if we look just like them.

You all know those sheep out there are scared of people who don't look just like them. That's how it is in this country.

We must be willing to swallow our pride along the way while we do this.

Uhm, let me think about this for a minute.

No.

Seriously, wtf provoked this question?

When I was up in NH with OLFD this is what I noticed. People dressed respectfully and warm, not suits but sweaters and nice shirts over a few layers of clothes. People weren't wearing Ron Paul shirts while canvassing, although there were some buttons on jackets or winter hats with Ron Paul's name on them. The crazy attention-getting outfits and crazy signs were held off til the nighttime when we stopped canvassing and started sign-waving.
Hope that answers your query

no of course not.

i'm canvasing in my great great grandpa's confederate cavalry uniform.

No doubt. That imbecile, Mike Reagan (Ronald Reagan probably wishes he'd never adopted that freakshow) saw the revolutionary uniforms, and accused Paul supporters of "dressing like pirates" -- which, ironically, is probably exactly how King George charcterized the revolutionaries, as "pirates."

Back when I supported 9iu11iani, this is how my Meetup group dressed for campaigning:

I agree with most of your sentiment, but not this part. We should dress as if you're going to church or to work as a CEO.

  • People will ignore you if you dress weird.
  • People will listen to you if you dress normal.
  • People will be influenced by you if you dress like you're in charge.

Trust me, I wish this weren't true, but it is.

I like to mostly dress in a hula skirt and wear a V mask, while firing my rifle in the air to get people's attention or to accentuate my points while vehemently railing on them for being neo-cons.

we should wear t-shirts with mcCain on them that says:

Stay for 100 years.

With a picture of Iraq behind his head.
