IMO Obama thinks he "understands" Islam and Saudi customs so he's trying to show off/ ingratiate himself to Muslims and maybe trying to avoid the kiss and hand holding.

Not to say he doesn't understand Islamic customs better than most Americans since he grew up in Indonesia.

It's sort of like the little Madrasah boy in him came out and did what every little Muslim kid might do on meeting the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques (TM), i.e. the Saudi King.

It's still wrong for the POTUS, but that's what it looked like to me.
