WikiLeaks Ready to Release Giant 'Insurance' File if Shut Down

Fox News
December 05, 2010

Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder, has circulated across the internet an encrypted “poison pill” cache of uncensored documents suspected to include files on BP and Guantanamo Bay.

One of the files identified this weekend by The Sunday Times — called the “insurance” file — has been downloaded from the WikiLeaks website by tens of thousands of supporters, from America to Australia.

Assange warns that any government that tries to curtail his activities risks triggering a new deluge of state and commercial secrets.

I love this guy. At first I thought he was both heroic AND foolish. Now it's clear he has planned for this eventuality and is a very, very brave and thoughtful person. He's done more for liberty and made more personal sacrifices than anyone in modern history.

I can't wait for the Gitmo docs to come out. I bet they are particularly damaging to the U.S. gov't.

I hope they don't get forced into a position to do this since the file probably does have names that should be scrubbed.

A lot of people have lists of names of people that need to be "scrubbed".

I can think of quite a few myself.
;)

If you didn't do anything wrong then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, right? Isn't that the sentiment we get from the government? At this point if you are involved in this war you are in the same boat as those who chose to follow Hitler or any other dictator. When you sign up for the military you swear an oath to protect our country from enemies foreign and domestic. Ignorance of the law and your oath to duty is no excuse and if you are harmed by performing illegal acts of aggression then you deserve what you get. There isn't a single person in the military who can claim ignorance of what's going on and they should stand up against this. If not then your a coward and deserve what you get. You can not claim you are "following orders".

I love it. They could not make a movie this compelling! This is exciting stuff. Did anyone see Diane Feinstein saying "This goes beyond free speech." Oh so when you expose government corruption suddenly free speech doesn't apply. I see.

If it is AES, then the government may have already decrypted it :(.

Perhaps. Doubts but perhaps.
If they have, then they would know what it contains and that the whole world is about to know it too.

Does Assange/Wikileaks have all of the worlds governments in check or is it check-mate? They really don't have many options as far as I can tell other than to postpone the pain by letting him stay free/alive. That or buy him/them off. Brilliant maneuvering on the part of Wikileaks.
