Why did Newt agree with Ron Paul no less than four times in the last debate?

Is Newt beginning to adopt Ron Paul's message of peace, freedom and liberty, or simply pandering to Ron Paul supporters he understands no GOP candidate can win without?

Of course he is doing it for his own strategic reasons. Newt is not, and will not ever, come around to our side.

Because he wants our votes. We saw how he treated ron in iowa when he was perceived as a threat.

All of the above.
1. Giving credit where credit is due.
2. Pandering.

Newt knows being right has very little to do with winning an election. (ie Goldwater) Therefore, he can say "you're right Ron" on every single point up to and including foreign policy and yet still come out ahead.

PS - Still disappointed you decided never to help with the End the Fed project flybeech.

Simply pandering to Ron Paul supporters.

I brought this up previously. A couple people on Brett Baire's panel the other day (~3:46) noted that it was obvious that Gingrich was adopting some of Ron's issues. I think it was Charles Krauthammer (not sure) who stated the he doesn't think Newt is trying to court us, but rather he is attempting to stay on Ron's good side in the event he might need his help in the convention. If this is true, RP supporters need to stop flattering themselves by thinking Newt is playing to us.

He needs a popular ally to attack Romney, but we rather have Romney and Gingrich kill each other off :)

I think he found an ally in Santorum. Santorum was also atatcking Romney even more than Gingrich.

* Disagreeing gives Ron Paul speaking time (debate rules)
* It decreases the contrast between Newt and Ron to make Newt more attractive.
* Newt's been doing delegate math ;)
* He might see something in the cross tabs he likes with with Paul supporters.
* It decreases the amount of energy given to Ron's arguements. If you want to strengthen somebody's argument, disagree with it. If you want to weaken it, agree with.
* Makes Newt look less like an ogre (he wants to conserve his dark-side powers to battle Romney)

That's essentially the same thing. I'm pretty sure he wants our votes though. That is why he has been talking about a gold commission. He knows that in order to beat mitt he needs to pick up some new voting blocs.

this didn't need it's own thread, there were already threads discussing this issues. please stop cluttering

100% Genuine Pandering.

He is a total opposite of Ron Paul. Newt is a neocon who wants more wars and more government interference in the private lives of Americans.
