If you're buying in large quantities (20+ oz of gold or 500+ oz of silver), go with Tulving.

gold and silver can be had at reasonable prices (in most cases) at amazon.com 
I get my silver there. The gold is out of my price range at the moment.

Unjacketed bullets are made from an alloy. Straight lead is too soft.
Tire weights, copper gutter solder, fishing weights, and the contents of range traps are probably the way to go.
Lots of lead out there that people are willing to just give away.
The question then is whether Big Brother is going to throw them in the rape cage for doing it. I don't know.

Your best bet is a local coin dealer, if you can find one that is reasonable. Other than that, compare the online dealers that have already been listed. How good a deal you get varies based on what exactly you are purchasing, and some places, like APMEX.com, often have specials. Don't forget to factor in shipping costs.

I just sold two of these today pictured here.
I'm selling to APMEX right now. What do I have to do with regards to taxes for this sale if anyone wouldn't mind clueing me in.
As for local dealers\pawn shops, I don't trust these people at all. One guy looked like he was going to steal a coin once as he demanded my license. After he saw I was a local, he gave it back. Many of the pawn shops that I've gone to seem shady esp since some of them are financially pressed. I actually got a bad vibe as I was about to talk to him and I turned on my iPhone recording device just in case something weird happened, but he gave me the coin back (after he rejected my price and looked really angry.)
Another pawn shop lady tried to trick me as well with regard to price. I had a Mexican peso that is 1.2 ounces gold. She said she would offer payment at about 87% spot for one ounce gold, and she said since it was only 90% pure, it was only worth the price of one ounce gold. She basically wanted to pay below spot price for one ounce gold (even though it was 1.2) and was offering below spot value for that one ounce, and almost convinced me what she was saying made sense since it was only 90% pure.
Also some pawn shops offered me really low prices with these computer algorithms that the employees were plugging into saying the coin was really damaged or whatever so price was like 600 or 700 bucks.
Basically I found selling to local pawnshops to be an act in futility as they were all trying to rip me off, manipulate me, or had employees who had no idea what they were looking at. If any of them had offered even a semi-reasonable deal like $1900, I probably would have taken it at the time.
Then I researched it more, and in truth it weighed 1.4 ounces but contained 1.2 ounces gold, which she probably knew but she wanted cheaper price. APMEX offered me abut $2090 for the coin, which was very close to spot price so I took their offer. Registered mail cost me about 25 bucks as well but in the grand scheme of things this wasn't much.
BTW- I actually bought it from a local pawn shop 4-5 years ago, and I didn't have nearly as much trouble buying as selling. I think I paid maybe 50 dollars above spot price, which maybe isn't the best deal, but it wasn't a total rip off either like I experienced when I tried to sell it. I also think this Mexican Peso is a pawn shops dream as it weighs 1.2 ounces gold while actually weighing 1.4 ounces and is 90% pure so they can give you only a fraction of this information, and confuse people to rip them off. It's not a bad coin to buy so long as you know what you're looking at and know exactly what it's worth.

i think it is very hard to beat junk ( 90% ) silver coins on ebay , you can buy them at right at melt .
as far as lead goes , i make my own bullets using wheel weights lead mixed with antimony to make the lead harder , then swage them to size into a jacket .
be very carefull on buying gold as there is a lit of fake stuff out there.

Lead you can get from plumbing stores that sell it for the old cast iron pipe. Lead is used to join the pipe together, I've done it.
Fire11 is now selling gold?!
