Another pointless poll...

The purpose of the right to free speech is...
(1) For the good of society: to ensure that all voices are heard, even unpopular ones, leading to an educated public discussion
(2) For the good of the individual: To ensure that everyone can speak his mind and no one is coerced into self-censorship
(3) I dislike the question. Free speech is an absolute right, like life and liberty, and doesn't have to have a purpose.
(4) I dislike the question. There is no such thing as rights. Rights and laws are mere social conventions and not sacrosanct.

There is no such thing as "the right to free speech." You may say what ever you want on your own private property, or on the property of others' given their permission.

You do not have a right to say what you want on someone else's property if denied their permission.

In essence, the "right to free speech" is merely derived from property rights. Say what you want on yours, I reserve the right to deny you access to my property if your speech offends me.
