The thought came to mind and I'm just curious what an informal poll will result in. I think we can all agree that the outcome of the Swedish prosecution is the least of his concerns, so I'm solely focusing on the American aspect.

You know... I think they are worried about making him a martyr. After last weeks cyber attack retaliation by pro-wiki people, I think both sides are waiting to see who makes the next move.

The "poison pill" file was genius by Assange

if he had kids it would end up like bernie madoff's family......make em suffer before you kill them....

Unknown. Or yet to be seen.
A better question is what will be the result.
An honest look and evaluation of the information?
Or further movement on the path to tyranny?

I suspect Tyranny.
:(

I've thought about this and don't think it will be like the Pentagon Papers. Not because the situation is different, but because of the makeup of the people in this country is different. In the 60's there was much more freedom- you could just feel it. People were out in the streets- they were not tolerating acts by government. But today everyone sits quietly in their own little lives, and you don't hear a peep of argument out of anybody. I think many Europeans see the U.S. for what it used to be, and many are quite shocked of the apathy and seeming indifference in today's American. All that said, I think Assange will be extradited to the U.S. and prosecuted. And I think America will steadily disintegrate morally and ethically as a result.

Other. Rescued by Crocodile Dundee. The Aussies won't let the Yanks neuter Assange.

It's going to be one of two things:
If they can manage it, he's just going to disappear. The media will pretend like none of this ever existed (even more so than they are now). They will make every attempt to make him an unperson. Individuals might discuss it, but in the same way as we discuss David Koresh or Randy Weaver: the public's opinion will be tainted by the fact that he was an enemy of the state, and for that reason alone, most will ask no questions at all.

If they can't manage that, then he'll be Vince Fostered. I doubt he'll hang himself in a cell. Even tax parasites are cleverer than that. He'll be set free and later found dead by the maid.
