NJ GOP to McCain: It’s The Economy!

6 NJ GOP Congressional Candidates Urge McCain To Focus On the Economy And Not War

Lakewood, NJ – New Jersey conservative Republican leader Dr. “Maverick Murray” Sabrin, the Garden State’s strongest advocate of limited government and individual freedom and the front-runner for United States Senate, was joined today by five Republican Congressional Candidates at a press conference to urge Republican Presidential candidate John McCain to save his campaign and the Republican Party by imploring Senator McCain to “STOP trying to convince the American people you are right on our involvement in Iraq’s Civil War and focus on free market solutions to our economic problems.” Maverick Murray held a press conference in Lakewood, NJ at 11:30 a.m. right before Senator John McCain’s scheduled fundraising luncheon.

The video op-ed Dr. Sabrin released two days ago has risen to #10 Top Rated News & Politics video on YouTube internationally. (The text of the op-ed are below and the video can be seen at www.MurraySabrin.com).

Dr. Sabrin was joined at the press conference by Fernando Powers, Republican candidate for the 1st Congressional District, and Donna Ward, Republican candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, James Hogan, Republican candidate for the 6th Congressional District, Darren Young, Republican candidate for the 7rd Congressional District, and Kate Erber, Republican candidate for the 12th Congressional District.

Dr. Murray Sabrin challenged Senator John McCain, “The Republican Party was founded on the principles of Freedom and Liberty – not war. If your Presidential campaign becomes a public relations ploy to justify an unjust war it will have disastrous consequences throughout our nation.” Sabrin continued, “You repeatedly say, ‘I’d rather lose an election than a war’. My friend, my response is simple: you have every right to lose YOUR election, however, the consequences of an ‘Obama Tsunami’ across America in Congressional and local elections will cause such a fundamental shift in politics neither one of us will be around to witness the final consequences.”

Fernando Powers, who is running for Congress representing parts of Camden in an open seat, stated, “My future constituents want to hear how the next President of the United States is going to get government off our backs and out of our wallets – not how we keep our friends and family fighting another country’s civil war.” Powers continued, “The Republican Party has been on the forefront of the advancement of Freedom in America since its founding. Legalize Freedom is the solution to our problems.”

Donna Ward, who is running for Congress against incumbent Frank LoBiondo in South Jersey, remarked, “My motherly instincts are to protect my children’s liberties and that is why I am running for Congress. I want to look my family and neighbors in the eye and say I was part of the solution.” Ward continued, “John McCain sounds more and more like Frank LoBiondo and that does not bode well for his campaign in South Jersey.”

Darren Young, who is running for Congress in the GOP Primary for the open 7th Congressional District (currently held by Mike Ferguson) said, “John McCain needs to sound more like Murray Sabrin than the war-hawk Leonard Lance. If Senator McCain doesn’t change course he will not only lose my Congressional District but other solid-Republican Congressional Districts throughout America.” Young continued, “Senator McCain is already down by 24% in New Jersey without Senator Obama campaigning here. Senator McCain, at what point do you realize you have the wrong message for America?”

Senator John McCain is having a fundraising luncheon at Lake Terrace in Lakewood, New Jersey at 12 noon (1690 Lake Terrace, Lakewood, NJ).

Dr. “Maverick Murray” Sabrin is a successful entrepreneur working in commercial real estate, portfolio management, and economic research. Maverick Murray is an author, TV and radio commentator, and Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Business and Public Policy at Ramapo College. He and his wife Florence of 39 years reside in Bergen County. For more information, please visit http://www.murraysabrin.com.

An open message to Senator John McCain:
As it is most likely you will be the Republican nominee for President and I will be the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in New Jersey, I have one really big favor to ask of you: STOP trying to convince the American people you are right on our involvement in Iraq’s Civil War. I have made it abundantly clear when I am elected to the United States Senate I will do everything within my powers to bring all the combat troops home from Iraq by September 2010 (2 ½ years from now), irrespective of who occupies the Oval Office. I will agree to disagree with you on this very important issue.

Let’s have some straight talk my friend: I am not going to convince you that your position is wrong and you are not going to convince 75% of New Jersey voters you are right. One rule of thumb my parents taught me was the first thing to do when you are digging a hole for yourself – stop digging. I am sure you will continue to be asked about your position on Iraq and I am not suggesting for you to not answer the question. But instead of giving platitudes like you “want to win the war” or if we exit now “we are retreating”, try offering to the American people YOUR exit strategy and the tactics to accomplish that strategy. As a great military hero you know all successful military plans have an exit strategy – that is what Americans want to hear, not gaffes like your infamous “100 years in Iraq” statement.

I am still confused how Senator Barack Obama has a more traditional Republican foreign policy than you do (i.e., no nation-building, no pre-emptive attacks) but I will leave that for another conversation.

As recent polls in New Jersey and across America show you are dragging down the rest of the Republican ticket. In New Jersey you are now trailing the presumptive Democratic-nominee, Senator Obama 56% to 32% (Monmouth University poll) and 48% to 40% (Bergen Record poll). The Monmouth University poll gave you a 39% favorable to 45% unfavorable opinion – I am no political scientist, but those are not good numbers. Nationally, the picture looks equally weak.

As the likely Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey, part of my responsibility will be to lead the Republican Party in New Jersey and protect the Congressional and local candidates from a Democratic rout come November. Hence, my message to you today.

In order to win back those “Reagan Democrats” you must focus your campaign on kitchen table issues. This is why I have proposed The Sabrin Solution which is a simple three point plan to communicate: 1) secure our borders from foreign terrorists and illegal immigrants, 2) secure our economic well-being by getting government off our backs and out of our wallets, and 3) secure our children’s well-being by increasing choice in education and increasing our liberties and freedoms. This was Ronald Reagan’s message, this is my message to New Jersey voters and I strongly believe this can be a winning message for your campaign. My message to Legalize Freedom is resonating with voters which is why I am the frontrunner to take on the extremely liberal Frank Lautenberg in November.

Stop with the silly gimmicks like eliminating the gas tax for three months – you don’t need to be a Ph.D. in economics (I have a Ph.D. in economic geography from Rutgers) to know this will have little, if any positive impact on the economy. As a matter of fact, a very good argument can be made your plan will have a negative impact because it will have a minimal positive impact on working Americans while increasing the deficit without offsetting spending (I think I heard that from you back during the first Bush tax cuts). You lose credibility with the American voters when you offer such economic gimmicks.

The American tax-payer wants you to fight for them and when they see the Federal Reserve give a $30 billion bail out to Wall Street and you remain silent they become suspect. Silence is approval and a good fiscal conservative would never approve such a transaction. Fight for Main Street, fight for the middle class, and fight for our freedoms – those are the qualities Americans are looking for in their next President. You can see more about my efforts to correct our failed monetary policy by visiting my website MurraySabrin.com.

If you don’t heed my advice, not only will you lose in November, but you will take the Republican Party down with you. It will be my job to make sure the “Obama Tsunami” doesn’t wash ashore the Jersey coast in November.

In Liberty,
Murray Sabrin, Ph.D.
Republican candidate for United States Senate in New Jersey

i have come to really enjoy Murray Sabrin.

I'm psyched to have him as our first Revolution Senator

so did mccain respond to this????????? what did mcburger have to say about all this?!?!?!

Sabrin has massive balls, which is what is needed this election cycle if the Republicans expect to beat out any Democrat incumbent.

McCain is a natural born citizen. Sabrin is a naturalized citizen. Sabrin cannot be president.

Yeah, I asked Sabrin about his status at the 4/15 rally, where he confirmed he could not constitutionally run for President or VP. McCain is a natural born citizen STATUTORILY, but not constitutionally---he could still be challenged on this.

No1butPaul, what's unconstitutional about having Sabrin on the ticket?

edit. never mind.

But why make a deal of someone suggesting it?
