The reason there is a media monopoly in the first place is licensing laws that limited who could run a radio and tv station, etc. It's easy to have your own station technically. All the media monopolies, and indeed the two party system, can be traced to specially enacted laws.

That is disappearing with the internet, but it's apparently taking time to die off.

I certainly would like to see an advertising campaign against the media. If you wanted to create a TV ad, there a lot of really good soundbytes that show the MSM for who they are. There are a lot of good headlines from news articles that could be put in a brochure.
