We must get Ron Paul on record about this...

If anyone ever gets a chance, I believe it would be awesome to try to pose this question to Ron Paul, and get it on tape:

"Dr. Paul, the grassroots is planning a moneybomb on 12/16/2010 for you to run for president, but we would need you to at least have an exploratory committee to make it work. Would you be willing to commit to forming a committee if we can amass 10 million dollars in pledges for the moneybomb?"

Anyone have an idea how we could make this happen? And do you think it could work? Do you think Ron Paul would give a direct answer to this question?

I'd like to get something going as well. I have a thread about it here.

I'm up for any ideas, but I agree, it has to start with us. You have set a date to have a money bomb on Dec 16. I don't know if that's a good day or not, but how do we get the word out, and what message do we need to send to get people to listen to us?

We need to come up with a list of what this countries top priorities should be.

We need to make a goal for the money bomb, solidify a date for it and specify how to get started.

We need to have a short term and long term goal for building true grassroots support and education for Ron Paul, the Constitution and the dangerous fate our country is in socially.

He has already said that he won't announce in 2010. And I am pretty sure I remember him saying that he won't form an exploratory committiee, he'll just jump directly into candidacy when he does announce.

How about December 23rd? That would be the 97th Anniversary of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, and like James Grant said,
"The Federal Reserve should write a will and designate - Ron Paul, Executor."

Pressuring him to make a decion on the spot like that could get us an answer we don't want, namely a 'no'. I suggest the best way to get him to commit to running is sending him a letter encouraging him and telling him how he has inspired you. If we can inspire him the way he has inspired all of us we may get a much more promising result. Once we send him a letter we need to leave it up to him and God as far as the actual the decision and the timing.

It would be helpful to see that on video

Matt, do you know if either of those statements are on video anywhere? I'd be interested in seeing them if they are.

And Matt I don't see any of those kinds of statements as unchangeable. Sure, he may be planning on not announcing in 2010, and may be planning not to form an exploratory committee, but I think that there's a chance he could change his mind if we get enough people asking him to.

I believe you agree with me that we think it best if Ron Paul would form an exploratory committee this year, so all I'm trying to do is convince him to do that. He may have said that he won't announce in 2010, but that may be because he doesn't think there is enough excitement for his run yet. If we pose my question to him, hopefully we can get a clearer answer. Maybe he'll say "No that is absolutely not an option". Or maybe he'll say "Well, if 100,000 people are begging to be able to donate to me on 12/16/2010, I don't see how I could let them down." Either answer will be helpful in knowing what we in the grassroots should be doing.

I think it is at least worth a try.

I'd like a straight answer either way

If there is absolutely no chance he'll form an exploratory committee before the proposed moneybomb on 12/16/2010 then I'd like to hear him confirm that point blank. Then I wouldn't waste my time promoting a moneybomb that has no chance of happening.

I don't think we should take the mindset of leaving the decision and timing just up to Ron Paul, and God. They may be waiting to base their decisions on what we do. Ron Paul may not be planning on announcing soon solely because he doesn't think the support is built up enough yet. If we miraculously had an amazing number, like 1 million people signed up for a moneybomb on 12/16/2010, I am pretty sure that he would reconsider and decide that it would be a good idea to form an exploratory committee in order to allow the moneybomb to happen. The question is whether 100,000 or maybe 50,000 people would be enough to convince him.

Sorry, I don't think 12/23 is a good date

Sorry, I don't think 12/23 is a good date. It is too close to Christmas. People will be traveling and doing all sorts of stuff. And I don't know why we'd want to do it on the anniversary of the Federal Reserve Act.

Dec 16th 2010 is the best date in my mind. It is the anniversary of the original Boston Tea Party and so it contributes to helping position Ron Paul as the true candidate of choice for the Tea Party movement. It was also the same day as Ron's most successful moneybomb in 2007, so we know that day has worked in the past. And I think it is early enough to preempt any other candidates trying to step in and claim to be the Tea Party candidate.
