Voters in Five States to Decide on Marijuana Legalization Measures This November

Cannabis isn't "mind-numbing", it activates the brain and helps repair brain cells. I think you are thinking of alcohol.

It can be physically relaxing, maybe you are confusing mind-numbing with relaxing. Although plenty of top athletes find that it helps with physical activities as well.

The Diaz brothers, for example, smoke a ton of herb before they go out and train for triathlons.

Ah, my mistake. Anyone and everyone can handle copious amounts and regular use of weed and suffer no negative consequences.

That's not what I said, but I would say there is no evidence that cannabis harms anybody. You can point out "this person used cannabis and negative things followed", but what you can't do is say "compared to what". If they had chosen alcohol or some other drug, SSRIs, gambling, etc., would they be better off in the longrun?

To be clear, I never stated that it harms anyone.

You can point out "this person used cannabis and negative things followed",

Which is what you did, except the inverse.

If they had chosen alcohol or some other drug, SSRIs, gambling, etc., would they be better off in the longrun?

Absolutely not, but we live in a world where one can choose to abstain from any mind altering substances.

Cannabis obviously has positive sides and obviously has negative sides, when looked at it as a whole. To society, to the individual, there are positives and negatives everywhere. That's not a problem, I think it's good to recognise that reality. It's useful as a medicine for many things but it's not a wonderdrug that cures everything. I don't like the black and white discussion. Life is full of nuances, so is this.

Looks like it's just going to be 2 out of 5, with the other 3 failing by wide margins. Sucks considering that South Dakota passed by 8 points in 2020 (then got overturned).... I don't know why so many people changed their mind from two years ago.
