[Video] Rand Paul on The Kelly File 12/21/15

Why does Rand care about what the terrorists would accept? He says they won't accept shia force to attack them that only a Sunni Islamic forces can defeat ISIS. Jesus H Christ, they are trying to kill them not ask for their hand in marriage. Just keep killing them and forget what the foreign merc would accept. Its stupid shit like this that pisses me off about his ME policy.

I think it's about the civilians in those cities, not about the terrorists. They won't accept a Shia occupying army peacefully, they'll only accept Sunnis.

EDIT: Or Kurdish for that matter.

Yes, exactly. But jules just raises an interesting point, if you aren't careful with the wording then Rand sounds like he wants to make peace with the radical islamists as opposed to peace with anyone who isn't radicalized.

Rand kicked ass on that one.

Anytime they say "boots on the ground", I wish he would be quicker with "I'm all FOR boots on the ground - Arab boots not ours."

Nope, he is talking about the terrorists flowing into the country. John Kerry is making the same argument about bringing in a Sunni force to appease the Jihadists coming from the Sunni neighbor states coming into Syria to fight. Nobody is asking what the Syrian people who want this war to end wants, its all about what the foreign fighters and their Sunni state sponsors want.

Why would the kurds want a Sunni force? It makes no sense that Rand would be doing this for them.

What he's saying is that when the US occupies their region and tells the radicals they are wrong, they can piss off enough people to keep recruiting new radicals and we will be at war indefinitely. But if their own people tell them they're wrong, they'll probably still be pissed off, just not at the US.

Though, what typically happens in such a situation, whichever side wins will install a dictator to oppress the side that loses.

I've been following this guy on twitter for a little while now, he speaks a lot of sense about the situation in Syria and calls himself an Islamic libertarian.

and this point is crucial, but not something Rand is talking about because, I believe, of the politics with Russia at the moment.

Dunno about that, also the wahhabi sunnis are not the their own people. The Syrians have been dying by the 100s of thousands fighting these people and Rand is going to try and appease them by doing what they want. He says something like "they would not accept even a shia force" and the "they" he is talking about are the militants aka terrorists fighting in Syria right now.

Not true, if the sunnis win they would persecute the Shia and minorities in the country not necessarily the other way around. We saw what the sunnis did in Libya killing swats of Gaddafi supporters and black Libyans, we didn't even anything close to that in Iraq when the shias took power.

Your interpretation of "they" doesn't = what Rand said. The fact is the people there will not support a western occupation, they will not support Shia forces, they will not support Kurdish forces. The only way peace can be brought to the region is if non-radical Sunnis stand up to the radicals.

Hell, 'I think' is much better than Ron Paul's constant 'Uh's' and 'Well.' It's not the make or break tic of his entire campaign.

The Christie crying shown by Fox trying to make Rand into defending Obama foreign policy -
making Rand look bad to viewers - so when is Rand dropping out ?

Christie the foreign policy expert wanting to negotiate with dead Kings wasn't mentioned ?

I wish he would just say "yes" or "no" at the beginning of a question.

Same here....I wish somebody in his campaign would point this out. Too many of his sentences start with "I think" and it's been driving me crazy since I saw his first interview this year.

It's _JeremyR_

I know what rand means unfortunately the American people don't get it. What I think he is saying is that you can go kill as many as you can find and they will keep coming back. If the world over there that they live in rejects them and seeks to eliminate them then they will have no place to stand and no one to recruit, thus their sentiments and ideas die. Its the real long term solution. Kill the roots of the idea or they keep coming back.
