Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Friday will deliver the keynote address at the Texas Republican State Convention in Fort Worth.

Paul’s political action committee made the announcement on Monday.

“Senator Paul, as a native Texan who grew up and went to college here in Texas, represents his Texas roots well by espousing the conservative values of limited government, fiscal responsibility, free enterprise, and an effective national defense,” Texas Republican Party Chairman Steve Munisteri said in a statement.

Paul, who has expressed interest in running for president in 2016, is among several other GOP contenders speaking at the convention.

Other speakers include Gov. Rick Perry (R), Jeb Bush’s son George P. Bush, running for land commissioner, Texas Sens. Ted Cruz (R) and John Cornyn (R) and GOP gubernatorial nominee Greg Abbott.

Am I the only one unable to view the stream? When I click the link it doesn't show any streams, says the event has started but no video or anything :(
Oh well hopefully someone will post a tube of it later

It was working before but now it's not coming up... very odd

Was there in person. When he came on the stage, he got some decent applause, but I'm guessing Cruz had more cheerleading (I missed his speech) earlier. There were Cruz signs in every seat in the auditorium (for people to hold/wave). There were none for Rand (although a decent amount of people were wearing stickers given out at a booth in the exhibition hall.

My county's party chairman and her social club were sitting in front of me and I heard her telling her friend, "He's not going to win." I took the statement as an assessment of Rand's chances at winning the straw poll based upon the applause. She's probably right, but we'll see.

Rand gave a good speech and several times the social club was surprised at the knowledge he was dropping on them. I think he impressed, but it's hard to say for sure.

Thanks for sharing, Bern. +rep

I'm just glad that folks like Rand & Ted are the headlining these events. Virginia Slims.

I mean, it's Cruz's state and unlike Cruz, Rand is walking the fine line between appealing to the liberty base and the neocon crowd. Cruz doesn't have to try and do that.

It's a State Convention. Plus, his father had people at their feet, too, but few bothered to notice.
