Nasa Warns Of Super Solar Flares in 2012, Causing Largest EMP in the World!

I just have to say one thing, I fucking hate Michio Kaku. He's a huge Statist.

"End of life as we know it?" Fox overselling again. For a solar max cycle, they expect it to be a milder than average one.

REVELATION 16:8,9
And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men blasphemed the name of God, which has power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Lemme guess...the video has a "patriotshelpingpatriots.com" ad. :p

Buy this bag of dehydrated textured vegetable protein or yer gonna die!

Fox? Overselling or hyping up a story?? lol

Yeah, you're absolutely right. 2012 should be a solar peak, but any solar flares would have to be: A) VERY big and B) aimed directly at Earth in order to be any problem at all.

Odds are, there won't be any problems.

That being said, if we did get hit by a flare of the same class and power of the one that hit earth in 1859, we could potentially lose a lot of our power grid, satellite communications, and a lot of unshielded electronic devices such as cell phones, computers.... and the fancy electronic dinguses that make modern cars start. And that really *would* be a pain in the ass. :(

I'm gonna bury me an extra iPod in an ammo can out behind the house, just in case.... :D

Damn. Another 'something-else-from-outerspace-is-going-to-kill-us' claim.

Just get it over with already.

So it's only targeting Eastern part of US? West is safe right?

If a solar flare hits the Earth (and let me stress again this is NOT likely) pretty much the whole side of the planet facing the sun at the time is going to be in trouble... and ONLY - repeat - ONLY if the flare is a truly colossal one. See the above links to the 1959 Carrington event.

To put it another way: Y'all may as well plan on being here at the end of next year. Suck it up and make sure Ron Paul gets into office! :D

This is old news. Someone just uploaded a story from a few years ago concerning the possibility of a 2012 solar flare. Michio Kaku, the scientist in that interview, has stated the forecast has changed and there will be no solar flare.

There will be flares- just not likely big enough to wipe out life as we know it. Though the universe (including the sun) does surprise from time to time.

The sun is a terrorist....we should bomb it.

I've been following this story for a whileThis is a very real possibility that our current high-tech age is unprepared for.
From the information I have read, if this did happen, it would not be long for basic electronic grids to up and working again.
The problem is, the information stored on those devices.
If the information stored on computers would not protected, they would simply disappear. The industry I am currently working in would be devestated because most of the information they own is now stored on computers.
What would that mean for the internet? Would it be a complete wipeout?
I don't know and neither does anyone else.
Just make sure you have hard copies of anything you store on your computer.
