Veterans’ groups STILL waiting for funds PROMISED by Trump from Fox debate fiasco

Veterans’ groups STILL waiting for funds PROMISED by Trump from Fox debate fiasco!!

Apparently the same guy on Trump’s team who is organizing his political effort is also running his fundraising for veterans, because many of them still haven’t received the money he promised.

From the Wall Street Journal:

More than two months after Donald Trump skipped a Republican debate to hold a fundraiser for veterans, the targeted beneficiaries are still seeing a fraction of the promised money raised from the Republican’s charitable foundation and his wealthy friends.

A survey by The Wall Street Journal of 19 of the 22 groups originally listed by Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign as the prospective recipients of the funds found that they had received roughly $2.4 million of the estimated $6 million in donations the campaign said the event generated. The total received by all of the groups is likely to be more.

One organization refused to disclose how much it received, another said it needed to submit more paperwork before a check would be forthcoming, and one didn’t respond to multiple inquiries.

All of the groups reported receiving checks from the Donald J. Trump Foundation or associates through the mail, and most arrived in late February in increments of $50,000 or $100,000. Three organizations reported getting smaller donations in March that averaged between $5,000 and $15,000.

Is that how we make America great again? By making promises and not keeping them? Sounds like he’s keeping it Obama’s America.

And not all of the veterans’ groups that got money even know if it was part of the Trump promise or not!

Some charities that received funds from the various individuals and foundations said they were confused about whether they were associated with the Trump fundraiser.

“It’s a little weird,” said Keith David of the Task Force Dagger Foundation, a Texas group assisting Special Operations Command personnel, who said that he received a $50,000 check from Mr. Rahr’s foundation, but remained in the dark for weeks about whether it stemmed from the Trump event.

Mr. David said he was recently informed by one of Mr. Trump’s representatives that they were connected. “It looks like it’s from a totally separate organization,” he said.

Incredible.

The WSJ reported that team Trump declined to give them any accounting of the money they received and had handed out.

If this idiot’s organization can’t keep track of $5 million he promised to give to veterans, just imagine the insanity when he has control of our more than $3 trillion budget.

Keep in mind that while his minions go around regurgitating his line that he’s so pro-veterans, this is the first time he’s EVER donated money to veterans, aside from a measly $2,000 he gave many years ago.

What ever happened to all that money Trump raised for the veterans?

In January, Donald Trump skipped a televised Republican debate in Iowa and held his own event instead — a rally to raise money for veterans. Trump said it was a huge success.

“One hour. Six million dollars,” Trump told a campaign rally in Iowa a few days later, boasting about the total raised. He listed more than 20 groups that would receive money. “These people that get these checks are amazing people, amazing people.”

More than a month later, about half of the money, roughly $3 million, has been donated to veterans’ charities, according to a summary released Thursday by the Trump campaign in response to inquiries from The Washington Post.

In recent days, after the campaign initially did not provide details of where the money had gone, The Post had undertaken its own accounting. After contacting each of the 24 charities that Trump had previously listed as his beneficiaries, The Post had accounted for less than half of the $6 million.

Hope Hicks, a spokeswoman for Trump’s campaign, said Trump still intended to give the rest of the money away to veterans groups. She also criticized the news media for repeated inquiries into what became of the funds.

Maybe it was just a "suggestion":

Trump said he raised $6 million for veterans. Now his campaign says it was less.

By David A. Fahrenthold May 21 at 1:55 PM

One night in January, Donald Trump skipped a GOP debate and instead held his own televised fundraiser for veterans. At the end of the night, Trump proclaimed it a huge success: “We just cracked $6 million, right? Six million.”

Now, Trump’s campaign says that number is incorrect.

Campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said the fundraiser actually netted about $4.5 million, or 75 percent of the total that Trump announced.

Lewandowski blamed the shortfall on Trump’s own wealthy acquaintances. He said some of them had promised big donations that Trump was counting on when he said he had raised $6 million. But Lewandowski said those donors backed out and gave nothing.

“There were some individuals who he’d spoken to, who were going to write large checks, [who] for whatever reason . . . didn’t do it,” Lewandowski said in a telephone interview. “I can’t tell you who.”

Lewandowski also said he did not know whether a $1 million pledge from Trump himself was counted as part of the $4.5 million total. He said Trump has given that amount, but he declined to identify any recipients.

The comments appear to be the first acknowledgment — almost four months later — that Trump’s fundraiser had brought in less than the candidate said. Lewandowski said he did not know the exact total raised or how much of it remained unspent.

In the past few days, The Post has interviewed 22 veterans charities that received donations as a result of Trump’s fundraiser. None of them have reported receiving personal donations from Trump.

Did Trump make good on his promise to give from his personal funds?

“The money is fully spent. Mr. Trump’s money is fully spent,” Lewandowski said.

To whom did Trump give, and in what amounts?

“He’s not going to share that information,” Lewandowski said.

Reality is a bit different than CPU's headlines....

Campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said the fundraiser actually netted about $4.5 million, or 75 percent of the total that Trump announced.
So, they were given 4.5 million; not 0.

A few people promised funds they didn't end up giving. This is a common thing, unfortunately.

The comments appear to be the first acknowledgment — almost four months later — that Trump’s fundraiser had brought in less than the candidate said. Lewandowski said he did not know the exact total raised or how much of it remained unspent.
Perhaps they were trying to get those who pledged to follow through.

Donald Trump withholding over $3 million in 'missing' money he raised for veterans' groups

After Donald Trump raised $6 million for military veterans, more than half of the money can't be accounted for by his campaign.

In an attempt to create a cover for dodging a January Fox News debate moderated by rival Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump decided to hold a fundraiser for veterans' groups. While the Trump campaign announced that they raised over $6 million on that one evening, over $3 million has apparently gone missing.
Veterans' missing moola

In April, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, and the Daily Beast all reported that more than half the money the Trump campaign claimed to have raised was not accounted for. Over 20 charities have currently received various portions of the $2.9 million that has been put on the books, but the remaining money's whereabouts remain a mystery, as reported by the Daily Kos on May 10.

CNN correspondent Drew Griffen was sent out on assignment with the goal of following the paper trail in the hopes that the missing money would be located. While speaking to CNN host Chris Cuomo, Griffen admitted he didn't have any new information. "We found the same thing that you found Chris, a lot of promises and not a lot of answers," Griffen said, noting that locating the money "just shouldn't be that hard."

Trump Tower protest after Donald Trump’s charity fundraising drive comes up short

A group of veterans went to Donald Trump’s headquarters in midtown Manhattan on Monday to demand an apology and answers after the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s campaign admitted a veterans fundraiser did not raise as much money as he had initially claimed.

Alexander McCoy, who said he was a Marine Corps veteran who helped organize the protest, described Trump’s handling of the January fundraiser as “unacceptable.”

“We’re here as a group of veterans to reject Donald Trump,” McCoy said. “It is unacceptable that he made a commitment and failed to live up to it. He said he raised $6 million for veterans and claimed to have done so, and yet there has been no accountability for that money.”

He continued: “He has failed to show where a lot of that money went. And he failed to raise as much as he claimed to have raised. And it is unacceptable for Donald Trump to try to take advantage of the goodwill that American voters feel for our men and women in uniform to try and get votes while failing to live up to his own commitments.”

The protest came on the heels of a Washington Post report published Saturday, in which Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said the fundraiser only brought in about $4.5 million. Trump held the Jan. 28 fundraiser instead of participating in a Fox News GOP debate that evening. At the time, he said the network was treating him unfairly. At the event, Trump announced that it had raised $6 million.

Lewandowski attributed the fundraising shortfall to donors who reneged on promises to participate.

“There were some individuals who he’d spoken to who were going to write large checks [and who], for whatever reason … didn’t do it,” Lewandowski told the Post.

Lewandowski declined to identify the donors who failed to participate. He also would not say exactly how much was raised or where the money went. The Post was only able to identify about $3.1 million in donations that went to veterans groups.

About a dozen protesters showed up to Trump Tower on Monday. McCoy described them as veterans who connected through “grassroots” organizing tools and
“social media” after hearing about the Post story. He said they were not part of an organization.

In addition to the fundraising shortfall, the protesters objected to the lack of information about where the money Trump raised for veterans ended up.

Another one of the organizers, Perry O’Brien, questioned Trump’s national security policies. O’Brien, who said he served with the Army in Afghanistan, argued that Trump’s plans would make the country more dangerous than it is now.

“He’s shown to be reckless, impulsive, and combines inexperience with bravado and confidence, which is a deadly combination, as many of us who have served
overseas know. It’s guys like that that get people killed on battlefields,” O’Brien said.

Yahoo News asked O’Brien whether the group would try to contact Trump or meet him inside the tower. He said that the protest was an attempt to communicate and that he hoped Trump would hear the message.

“We hope that he will apologize to veterans,” O’Brien said.

The veterans protesters at Trump Towers are Bernie supporters. I saw them interviewed on CNN. There were only about a dozen or so protesters. This is political. So, Donald raised 4.5 million for veterans instead of 6 million.

Trump doesn't give a shit about veterans. Vets are a prop for him (as we are for most politicians). He used us for the debate circus and discarded us. Not surprised.

But then again, I'm not voting for this narcissistic asshole for POTUS, either

Looks like their persistence will pay off:

Trump promises info on veterans fundraiser

By Ben Schreckinger

05/29/16 03:02 PM EDT

Donald Trump will hold a news conference on Tuesday to unveil a full list of groups that received donations from a veterans fundraiser held in January, the businessman announced on Sunday.

"We're announcing on Tuesday all of the groups that've gotten the money," Trump said during remarks at a motorcycle rally in front of the Lincoln Memorial. "We're having a big press conference and it's going to be a great day."

The fundraiser has become a subject of controversy as journalists have been unable to account for the full $6 million the businessman initially said he raised through the January event. The Trump campaign has sent inconsistent signals about how much of his own money Trump has donated and when.

If it's important to have MSM slanted articles on a subject why not cut-n-paste right and left slants?

Trump releases details from vet fundraiser, slams media

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...vet-fundraiser-slams-media.html?intcmp=hplnws

Donald Trump fired back Tuesday at reports questioning his fundraising haul from a high-profile veterans event in January, releasing an extensive list of charities he said received the donations -- and slamming the media for questioning him.

During a press conference at Trump Tower, the presumptive Republican nominee said he's raised $5.6 million and more is coming in.

He rattled off the list of charities and the amounts they received, while taking scathing and sometimes-personal shots at the media for pressuring him to disclose the information.

“I have never received such bad publicity for doing such a good job,” Trump said. He added, “The press should be ashamed of themselves.”

The list contained dozens of groups including the Fisher House Foundation and the Green Beret Foundation, which received $115,000 and $350,000, respectively.

In between detailing the recipients, Trump also called members of the media “losers” and complained they treated him unfairly. “I don't want the credit for it, but I shouldn't be lambasted,” Trump said, explaining why he named the charities and the donation amounts.

In January, donors sent money to the Donald J. Trump Foundation when the billionaire businessman held a fundraiser in Iowa – the same night he skipped a Fox News Republican debate. He said they raised $6 million and pledged to give the proceeds of the event to charity.

He also pledged to kick in $1 million of his own money to the cause.

The campaign for months, though, would not disclose which charities got the money, amid speculation that the fundraising haul was not as large as he claimed.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski initially told the Washington Post they raised about $4.5 million.

But last week, Lewandowski told “CBS This Morning” that Trump will ultimately give $5.5 million to $6 million to veteran groups. Lewandowski said $4.5 million had already been “attributed.”

Among the recipients, according to the campaign, are: Achilles International, the Boston Wounded Vet Run, Racing for Heroes and The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which builds rehabilitation centers for injured military personnel.

Achilles International, which helps wounded veterans train to compete in athletic events, received $200,000, Trump said.

Racing for Heroes reported last week that it has received a large check from the Trump Foundation. Racing for Heroes helps veterans with brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder through auto racing.

The Boston Wounded Vet Run holds an annual motorcycle ride and raises money to help disabled veterans. The group’s founder served in combat with the son of one of Trump’s bodyguards.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation also received a check for $75,000.

“We are grateful for the generosity and trust extended to the Bob Woodruff Foundation through this gift, which will help our efforts to create long-lasting positive outcomes for our nation’s wounded, ill and injured veterans , service members and their families,” Sam Kille, communications manager at the Bob Woodruff Foundation, told Fox News in a statement.

In response to Trump’s speech, a group of anti-Trump veterans held a protest outside of Trump Tower, accusing the New York businessman of using veterans as “political props.”

“What Trump doesn’t understand is that he cannot buy votes of veterans,” former Marine Alexander McCoy said at the event. “No matter how much he donates, (he’s) still not standing for the values that veterans stand for.”

Likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her campaign also hammered Trump over his past statements on veterans during the press conference.

This was a disgusting witch hunt by the left wing Hillary supporters. Shame on them. If only they would devote this kind of scrutiny on the criminal enterprise known as the Clinton Foundation.

Whats disgusting is that Hillary has to incite the media to report the truth. They did the same thing last week on Iraq/libya on 5/20 Trump was on Morning Joe and he said he was always against the Iraq/libya war. Joe didn't even correct him until Hillary sicked her media puppets on Morning Joe.

Looks like the media screwed up.

Nope. It looks more like the media reporting on this pressured him to follow through. I guess that's why he wants to butcher the First Amendment. Good on the media, shame on Trump.

Vets groups: Checks from Donald Trump dated in the last week

Phone calls to all 41 of the groups by The Associated Press brought more than two-dozen responses Tuesday. About half reported checks from Trump within the past week, typically dated May 24, the day The Washington Post published a story questioning whether he had distributed all of the money.
